Doh, I should have read more carefully.uhiforgot wrote:7/13 is already taken, but 9/11 is not, and 9 and 11 are relatively prime.
9 / 11 it is then. Which makes: 0.(81)
Thanks again for the fun :)

Without checking, I'll choose 8468/9409, which is approx. 0.899989371878 and hope it's not taken. (slim chance, of course, which makes this number guess contest quite nice, not having to check :) )
Thanks for the contest!
By the way, what happened to the Fermat project?

On his first post, he says that it closes on Sunday @ 8:00pm PST. As for when the winner gets the prize... well, it could be several days, or several months, knowing how this kind of stuff goes.cobrajoe wrote:Hey Jeff,
Just wondering, when will you close this contest? When Taz finally tells us what's she's teasing us with? :p
That said, I want to know what it is too!!!

Whoops, silly me. I really don't remember reading that part, I was too busy trying to figure out my numbers :DTh232 wrote:On his first post, he says that it closes on Sunday @ 8:00pm PST. Chances are I'll end up getting whatever Taz was teasing us with someday, but I just hope it comes in serrated! (I need more SE)

Bump
There's a little less than 23 hours remaining to get guesses in, so here's your shot to get numbers in if you haven't yet!

The Results...
Well first, I figured out that my spreadsheet will not support a 20 digit decimal number, but that wasn't a problem. Second, I know this is not Sunday @ 8pm PST, but I hadn't anticipated being this busy. Here's the official number:
0.37578281492799314827
These were just the first 20 digits that randomly came to mind.
And now the results:

By the numbers, griff76 has the closest ratio, but GCD(30,76)=2.
Congratulations, Tank! :D

So by pesky rule number 2, Tank is the winner! Please PM me with your information, and maybe sooner or later Kristi will tell us what you've actually won :rolleyes:Rules:
1) Numbers chosen must be integers between 1 and 10,000.
2) Numbers chosen must be relatively prime. In other words: the greatest common divisor (GCD) of the two numbers must be 1. Here is an online GCD calculator: http://wims.unice.fr/wims/wims.cgi?modu ... search=gcd This will avoid a situation where two different sets of numbers have the same ratio.
3) One guess per person, please.
Congratulations, Tank! :D
