Jeb's pix and mods
Re: Jeb's pix and mods
Thanks Paul,
Far as a favorite, I have not even carried the Caribbean yet, it is slated for a project lol. But at the moment I have the Shaman in a front right pocket along with the Manix 2 on the front right leg. The rest on board are my usual assortment.
Of these in the pic mentioned, so far I am really liking the bigger blade of the Shaman. But realistically these are all really nice and have not had much to any pocket time just yet lol. Thanks for the comments.

My hand picked Big GameDay show and tell at the tailgate party is this assortment of red and black and all blackout just for this Orange bowl game.

Easy to see the ones I don't carry, those without the lanyard. They are for special occasions like this today.
New lanyard on the Shaman at the bottom of the pic above. This lanyard I put one Spyder and one Spartan helmet on it, both have been hand polished and flamed.

Re: Jeb's pix and mods
Well, the GameDay was not the outcome I had hoped for. Personally I thought they played way to sloppy and if I had to guess as to the why, the three weeks off since their last game.
Disappointing, boys will be boys, then there down there in Miami, the mixing pot of Florida and all the fun down there. But I'm just making excuses, they; the Ducks have beat us years back too. I just know we could have played better.
Now the tailgate party, heck nobody had to go to the ER or anything but one of my Police4 's did blade drop on top of the index finger and it cut the hound out of it.
But, a paper towel and some electric tape he was good as new and now he wants the knife for sure. Loves the size of it. The choils for the thumb and finger and I am sure he knows how to clutch it and let the blade drop with it not cutting you lol. But he ain't getting mine lol, he can source his own.
Thank goodness for all this during the game, or we would not had any entertainment lol. Our football game was just awful guys... I have since upon returning to base camp wiped all these down with FrogOil and parked them safely away lol.

Took my scales off the Shaman and I cut the side a right handed person thumbs open, to expose the rest of the thumbhole. Wasn't much there but for me, I wanted my fat thumb to get all the hole access there is.

You can clearly see the clip side of the scales above the bottom of the thumbhole. It was a small benefit but with my fat thumb everything is good.

Re: Jeb's pix and mods
Some work has begun on the Caribbean black and yellow Bumblebee. I fluted the thumbhole access area for a right handed person only. It had a little more restriction to the thumbhole than the Shaman. Here is a look/see of the process.

Once finish the cleanup and the rest of what I going to do with this knife, it's going to really change its appearance.

Re: Jeb's pix and mods
Here I have started the dyeing of the scales. The beginning these were a lighter color of yellow and black.
I did these as I have done all my others, and regardless what I tried they just didn't want to take the red Dye. They were just shy of a sick looking pale pink at best.
So I have ended up putting these scales in the dye removal, and going to just try this from the start. I have dyed more than a few sets of G10 and this is the first set that did this...
Here is the scales from where I started with a pale yellow.

Here is the scales as I just removed them from the dye remover...

Once I get these out of the red Dye and see if they are going to make a good red and black set or not, I will tack up where I am...
Ok, here they are right out of the red, washed and dried off. Don't look very red to me. So they are going to become some other color.
I will have to make a trip to town, and that ain't happening right now. So this little hot mess will be on hold till then.

Re: Jeb's pix and mods
What color are you going to consider ? Could it be the Yellow throwing off the Red shade ? Or is it the scale material ? Interesting project Jeb . Dan

Re: Jeb's pix and mods
Evil D dyed some blue for sure, and I think maybe red too. Maybe shoot him a message?
Re: Jeb's pix and mods
Oh it's the scales that are throwing these off. I am going to get some more of the dye remover and I going to see if these will take green shade I like...
I like green a lot, so we will see if they will dye a shade of green I will except, they don't do a green I like, it's black! I don't like the black, I will throw this knife in the parts box and go find something else I can screw up lol...

Re: Jeb's pix and mods
This is my only Caribbean, I wanted it for the LC200N steel and the bigger blade. Once I got it, I just thought it would make the perfect project for dyeing the scales red and black...
I was going to need to work the knife anyway, as it's way to tight at the blade pivot. This knife has really thick heavy washers, least compared to other Spyderco knives I have had apart.
So I just thought I would do all this together when I tore the knife down. I have never had any scales in the past, FRN or G10 not take the dye well. These took some of the red, don't get me wrong here, there just not as red as I prefer them.
That was after two attempts also lol. So I been wanting to try a green Bumblebee anyway, so what better knife than this one. Heck I like green anyway.
I do have a question about this knife though, there doesn't appear to be much difference between this knife and the Bodacious, just what is the difference between these two knives anyway?
There physical size is very close, there shapes are too. Both blade tangs are cut back toward the scales increasing the cutting edge the same, so what is it?

Re: Jeb's pix and mods
I would end a PM to Evil D , he has been a Caribbean guy forever and is big on the Bodacious. I only have the CQI Caribbean so I can’t help except that your observation of the two in design is basically correct . The handles are forward design but are definitely shaped differently. The Bodacious appears to be thinner too , but I could be incorrect. DanJeb wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 5:46 pmThis is my only Caribbean, I wanted it for the LC200N steel and the bigger blade. Re: Jeb's pix and mods
Cool cool Dan thanks man. I know ED is big time Bodacious fan, I am probably going to need to get me one of those too lol... such an addiction I have. Not good.
Re: Jeb's pix and mods
My Caribbean which was a yellow and black Bumblebee is now sort of green. Man I am having all sorts of fun here. I will try a green again when I get one in from online.
This is rit dye emerald, which has a lot of blue in it. I wanted red and black and for the life of me could not get the scales red.
This was all we have at multiple stores, it's just a little to blue from the green I was shooting for.

Jeb , I think the color looks outstanding and very unique. I’m a green guy too but this does look very striking . Re: Jeb's pix and mods
Thanks Dan, I have been wanting to try a green Bumblebee for a while to just see if it would be something I liked or not.
Must admit, I love it. Just wish I could have gotten a more green dye, but this will work till I get a green dye in.
Thanks again. Have a good weekend Dan.

Re: Jeb's pix and mods
Well, maybe no one will be annoyed by me posting whatever applies to my knives that I have or getting in the future, here on this thread only. But I just got into more trouble by posting stuff yet again where it's not allowed.
It's getting to difficult for a normal gearhead like myself to just recognize where I can and can't participate in the thread and what is allowed on it without me getting PM'd and told to please not do that.
I have never intended to interfere on purpose but I guess I just have a special ability to jump in to add my thoughts. Darn, guys I am so sorry...
I didn't get on this forum with my intention to just use up bandwidth that more meaningful contents could use. If it's better for this forum, I can simply delete all this thread and sign out completely. I just need someone to justblet me know. I am not splitting any atoms around here anyway lol.
If I am still a problem just posting here, you guys please let me know and I can address this as well.
Never have I ever intended to be a problem as I obviously have become.
