Being that we still don't have anything close to real AI, I'm pretty sure we're safe for right now.

People and automated machines, that are currently working, are doing a pretty good job right now. Why would we need AI to produce more lazy people?

There are so many hurdles, for society to overcome, before we get to AI and then let it take over.

A true AI system, like the ones seen in Sci-fi movies, would probably do one of two things. 1) see us as inferior and wipe us out or 2) see us as inferior and try to make us better.

A.I. only know what tjhey are programmed to know and they typically have the prejudices of their creators. In my book The Gods of War your #1 is what happened, as the AI began to think of itself as a god. It took over the military and industrial sectors, the power and water grids, and anything else humans needed.

Doc in the Dune universe whch takes place approximately thousands of years after the 21st century, how possible is it for the people to either find an original Mora knife and replicate it for mass production or reinvent the exact item?

Beyond the knife props - is the show any good?
I just watched the Dune pt.1 movie on linear TV a couple of weeks ago, and found it more entertaining than I had expected.
I went on to order pt. 2 on 4k UHD disc during the Christmas sales and a new 4k QD-OLED TV on new years sale, so look forward continue watching when both items have arrived (the TV was a planned purchase, just waiting for the right price - I'm not that impulsive :D ).

Now to my actual question: Is there a timeline relation/other relation between the TV show and the movies that would make it preferable to watch one before the other?

Look up Dune Universe, it will give you an overview of all things Dune related.

The book should be read first, obviously, for you to get a good idea of what's happening.

Then watch the original movie from the 80's, which is kinda 80's cheesy but good. Then there was all the in-between stuff in the years lead up to the remake.

Dune 1 is an amazing remake, way better than the original. Keeps the movie closer to the book, then the 80's version. Dune 2 continues the story, up to Paul taking the water of life and defeating the Emperor.

What's next? Hopefully Dune 3, to see what happens, and if it's all out war with the other houses.

The new series is a slow burn, it starts out 10,000 years before. It gives you a glimpse into who's who, why spice is what it is... Desmond Hart, is the best reason to watch, never know who's getting fried next!

Thanks @Mk-211 for a thorough insight.
As I've already started on the new movies, I think I'll better watch the second one before I drill deeper into this universe. It's enough to keep track of as it is. But It's nice to have a general sense of how it all fits together, so I can make a more informed choice of where to go from here. Thanks

As far as I can tell, no, it’s basically a very boring Game of Thrones.

I don’t think the show will make much sense without having seen the movies or read the book.

The Dune book is fantastic by the way. Well worth reading. The recent movies are kind of a shallow action movie adaptation of a pretty deep novel. The movies are great, but they are just the top two layers.

One feature of the Dune series that I find interesting is that in their time line a man named Holtzmann discovered and engineered a portable force field generator they named after him. The field allows levitating vehicles and objects and blocks any physical or energy or projectile coming at the wearer of a certain speed. Bullets, blunt objects and even fast moving blades like say a cutting saber moving at a fast velocity will be blocked. In Dune they have very powerful directed energy weapons called Lasguns. A much greater version of our lasers, more like the Blasters of Star Wars. These cannot be used against Holtzmann fields or else a very devastating explosion will result that harms both the shooter and the shield wearer.

And so after many years the people in Dune have revived the martial use of knives, daggers, and stabbing type swords like the rapier. They have Katana and Machete like blades, too, but cannot use fast cutting swinging motions on the field. They get through it using slower cutting and stabbing motions.

Frank Herbert discovered that plot device that nullifies the standard laser blaster theme.
