As much as I love Imy PE Chap, I felt it could have been thinner behind the edge from the factory (still a great slicer, don't get me wrong).
Don't know of course if this will be true for the SE too.

The reveal looked like they took a PE Chap and ground serrations into it. If that’s the case the thickness behind the edge will be larger but that’s always the case for SE. I’m too tired to elaborate on that so I hope it’s obvious

They are on nearly opposite ends of the spectrum, but I want/must have one of these just as much as a Native Chief LW.

Even as my embracing of SE has cooled down a bit, I seriously consider this one. I'll at least wait for the first user reports to come in, but from there I can easily see this snowballing towards an acquisition.

Like Wartstein so often alludes to, the Chap is a solid working tool, and while a PE wharnie is most often my preference for work - it's hard to imagine a better choice than this if I want a SE companion knife/alternative.

I may be mistaken, but I am not aware of any other CTS-XHP with SE. So I am already very curios how this steel will work with SE and what serration-geometry did Spyderco pick for the blade.

Here is one guess. See this comparison between Caribbean, Endura 4, and Pac Salt 2.

Compared with the Endura and Pac Salt, the peaks/valleys are much shallower on the Caribbean. So, the Caribbean SE is more wavy, less steep.
