I’m inclined to agree with the “Salt Rockjumoer Theory” as well, which I’ve expressed several times in the past.

It is being discontinued, so I’m not sure it’s gonna happen.

Maybe a Sprint Run could test out the hypothesis that different materials would have been more popular, but I’m only looking at this from an enthusiast’s perspective with no risk on my end.
....

Technically just cause the linered, black VG10 version of the RockJumper is discontinued does not necessarily mean that there can't be a linerless, bright colored Salt version...which, as said, would be an amazing climbing knife...

But I don't have real hope that they'll shoulder the costs for new FRN molds (which a linerless RJ would require)....

EDIT: Oh, wait, such molds for a linerless Salt Rockjumper would be the same as for a linerless Salt Leaf Jumper! This makes it a bit more possible of course that there could be a linerless Salt Jumper wharnie (resp Rock Jumper) eventually ... as you say perhaps as a sprint...?
Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

That’s a great point I hadn’t considered!

In that case, I could totally see a “Jumper Salt” that has the potential for blade shape variations. Not just a Leaf or Wharncliffe, but maybe others too like a Hawkbill.
Of course, with as much edge as possible in the handle. :winking-tongue

While it’s not particularly important to me, things like jimping or Boye dents could also be considered?
For me, I climb trees a lot just because I like to, and there are no common scenarios where jimping could be disadvantageous.
I don’t need it, but I don’t mind it.

Anyway, there’s obviously lots of possibilities, even in the grinds, serrations, and steels.
Again, it is only my wishful thinking, but the Jumper design could spawn some basically ideal mid-sized Salt knives.

There’s so much potential in this, in my opinion!

As cool as a linerless wharnie Jumper (with a longer edge... ;) ) would be - looking at the recent diso´ed list and how many wharnies (also in the Salt line) and SE versions got cut, my hopes are somewhat limited... :worried

Looks a bit like as if they really tried to promote that blade shape. but the market just did not respond as hoped.

But I am glad if I am wrong here!! :smiling-cheeks

I’m beginning to wonder how upcoming Spydies will NOT be Salts, what with all the promises made about MagnaCut.

But, sure, I’d be glad to have a SaltJumper especially if based on the only Jumper left standing. Love my K390 Leaf Jumper.

That's what it appears to me as well. Seeing the success of some wharnies (the Yo2 is iconic) they put lots of models out in the wharnie blade shape, but they didn't all take off. Respect to Spyderco for taking risks.

I had to cut a bunch of cardboard for recycle day tomorrow. I know my Delica Wharncliffe SE is my best knife for the job, but I didn't use it, because soon I won't be able to replace it. That's a shame.
