The best steak I remember having was at a one of a kind resturaunt. No chain. They cooked the steakes on a grill in a bay window at the front of the resturaunt. There was a chimney above the grill. Smoke and steak fragrance would come out of the chimney and float over the road. The smoke would go into your nostrils and you would turn the car into the parking lot. :) Just like the coyote in the roadrunner cartoons. :D The inside had a bare concrete floor, cinderblock walls painted grey and VERY solid booths that looked like they had been there forever. Good shape because when they were made things were made to last. The steak cut like butter and tasted wonderful. The only reason I remember the place is because of how the steak tasted. The atmosphere was like a place you would have a catfish (with heads still on) buffet. That was only on Thursdays at lunch. That's true. :) Everything else was great also, potatoe, bread, Budweiser. They even opened a bottle of beer like no other place anywhere. :) Well, that may stretch things. :) This was around 1988. I don't know if the place is still there. I hope so. The prices weren't rediculous at all. And finally, you didn't need to bring your own knife. What they provided was just fine. :D

Columbus, MS since you asked. :)

I've ate at just about every fine steakhouse/restaurant here in Vegas. While all were excellent.
For the price I paid, they all come in second to one I make at home.

Value wise and nationwide franchise that most could enjoy, I think Outback should be metioned. They always serve a great steak.

tonight had a great ribeye at Charlie palmers. the steak knife was as dull as the butter knife so I used my military. it was still resting on the plate when the waiter wanted to take my empty plate.

Morton's for me too.

Texas Roadhouse is good for a weeknight bite, Morton's is where you go for a real steak dinner.

I like either a ribeye or porterhouse for my cut. The best restaurant steak I've ever had is the ribeye at a local restaurant here called Minerva's. It's fantastic. My wife's favorite steak is the filet mignon at Minerva's, so we get there once every couple of months.
