You guys have left out one aspect of the waiting game, which is the part i can't stand....that's the uncertainty of liking what you ordered. There are some things like these knives that are a safer bet than most, but a good example is i just ordered a pair of boots online that i haven't tried on, haven't seen in person, and have no idea if i'll like them. I do have another pair of the same brand that are fairly similar so it's a pretty safe bet, but for 2 weeks i'm gonna be sweating it out hoping i don't have to deal with shipping them back because we all know sizes and fit varies.

With knives at least we have the forum and a lot of word of mouth to go by and lots of pictures. I just ordered the 20CP Para 2 and i have no doubt i'll love the knife itself, the only thing i worry about is blade centering and blade play and those little issues.

I was truly sad when a knife/tool shop in the center of the city closed.

I enjoyed looking at the spydies in the shop windows and one bought one when passing the shop after a particularly unpleasant session at my nearby dentist. Bought a Ladybug to cheer me up. and felt much better. :D

The anticipation is good, too. I often have a preorder open for months before it is filled and sent.

Having lived in many remote places ordering is natural for myself and my wife. We would order our groceries from the Internet of we could get them delivered.

Ordering online here carries a bit of risk whether I get the item or not, as well.

I'm all about shopping for my Spydies online and saving a decent amount of money. And when you trust the sites you buy from (and they get to know you) it's almost like inspecting the knife yourself. And I like the anticipation as well. But not too much. I usually get my knives overnighted or 2nd day air.

True that, and I am spoiled in that respect. Living in the USA and having shipped things all over the globe I seldom complain about the USPS or about UPS/FedEx or other private delivery services.

Over the years I have worked with a lot of immigrants who confided they could not reliably carry simple things into their home countries when traveling let alone ship them and expect it to arrive intact. :(

You are absolutely correct Evil D. I want a fixed blade Spyderco now. (See thread about the Mountain Lion attack.) I have eyed the black Warrior for a while but for 250 I would like to hold it and look at it a bit. I did hold one briefly when I was in Golden last year, but I was grabbing every knife that Rachel would hand me and it all was an enjoyable blurr. Maybe a Schemmp Rock would fit better or one of the others. I hate that part and therefore I haven't ordered any of them yet.

Heck, the Lionspy is intriging but for the price, I can't risk it. I want a Navaja, and have heard some that love it and some that didn't like the feel as well and at a buck fitty or so, well I haven't ordered it yet either. The Millie is my favorite and I want another one now and have thought about the TI fluted, but again, I am not sure exactly what it would feel and look like, so I will probably opt for a Black Digi.

If there was a store reasonably close, I would make a trip and probably have to stop by the bank first.
