Your TRUE WORKHORSE Spyderco Knife
The one I put through the most hard use would have to be my SE Tenacious. As one of the few remaining Spydies with a full serrated edge, it does the dirty grunt work when I don't want to ruin a hard to replace sprint run or other expensive Spyderco.

If you don't mind my asking, where in the heck did you come across a Lignum Vitae Stretch? Most people don't have a clue as to the history, what, or where "Lignum Vitae" is. My mom lives in Lower Matecumbe so I have been to the islands where there are still some remaining trees. That's some hard and beautiful wood. You are fortunate to have this. Do you have a picture of the knife? Would love to see it. ThanksThe Deacon wrote:The two that have probably "cut the most stuff" would be my Lignum Vitae Stretch and my Chaparral. That little guy did yeoman service from the time I began preparing to move until most of my stuff was unpacked.
Even though the Centofante 3 is often described as a light use knife, that's the one I've used the most.
Of course, it's the only one I owned until recently, which might explain that... but it's nowhere near as delicate as some may think.
However, the Salt is probably going to become my new workhorse from now on. For some reason, this knife seems to be eagerly asking for trouble...

He had the Stretch customized by "STR," a well known knife modder. You can see some pictures of his Stretch in the 2nd post of this thread: http://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27777Tdog wrote:If you don't mind my asking, where in the heck did you come across a Lignum Vitae Stretch? I hear ya, though I have to treat my original C83 with a bit more respect as I only have the one. ... and you should see the state of my Caly Jr these days, poor thing has had a hard life.bh49 wrote:Original C83 Persian never failed me to any job, what I need. Can say the same about Caly 3.5.
Lately I've been Itching to find myself a more suitable "personal folder" and I keep finding myself looking at the Cento 3 & 4 and also the Ocelot which you dont hear much about these days.juggler wrote:Even though the Centofante 3 is often described as a light use knife, that's the one I've used the most.

For small stuff it used to be the Spyderco Mouse. These days, my Delica sees the most use...

My para and my se spyderhawk see some nasty stuff. I've actually stood on my para to cut through something. SE spyderhawk gets the really dirty jobs since it won't rust and the tip bends instead of breaking. My main knife is my S90V military which has seen its fair share of use. Trying to use my 20cp para2 more though.

How can you choose when anything made with a spyder stamp is built to preform and last. All of mine have been able to handle anything I need them to do.

My CE Endura 4 would be at the top of the list as I have had it the longest (it was my first). Now for smaller tasks I find both my Tasman Salts (SE and PE) are good for just about any job short of the Endura. I look forward to seeing how the Tasmans hold up after this deployment.

I almost bought the Ocelot : fairly similar to the Centofante 3, with a G-10 handle... and of course these nice little paw prints.jezabel wrote:Lately I've been Itching to find myself a more suitable "personal folder" and I keep finding myself looking at the Cento 3 & 4 and also the Ocelot which you dont hear much about these days.
But in the end, these prints are what made me choose the Centofante over the Ocelot : I feared they would make the knife nearly impossible to clean, especially if used for food prep (rivet construction).
They are rather uncommon these days (and probably always were : I'm not sure they sold very well).
As for the Centofantes, it all comes down to the blade shape you like better. The Cento 3 is probably the more universal one, but Wharncliffe blades do have their use too. Being discontinued, the Cento 4 is of course harder to find. I don't think you'd be disappointed with either one.
im always back and forth on different ones. if my endura and stretch hadnt broke there clips they would be top dogs in my edc rotation. with fall getting closer ill probubly start carrying my GB more. find myself using fixed blade knives more on the weekends. esse, bark river. pacific salt on the boat and beach.
