Most of the time I close the knife by holding it tightly between thumb and index finger right at the pivot, keep my other fingers out of the way and push the back of the blade against my leg. If I'm closing it in my hand I have the thumb on the pivot, the middle finger digging into dent of the wire clip and I push it closed with my index finger. That's the safest way I've found to work for me.
Thanks Suzie. I am trying to move my grip. Lower grip seems to work much better.

How are people finding the spring strength of the Squeak? Mine is very soft at the start so is a bit too easy to close for my preference, although because of the design it's no massive issue.
It actually takes more force to push the knife past the half stop than the initial part of closing.

I had assumed it was normal but recently got an FRN UKPK Rescue. I recall people mentioning about the FRN UKPKs having a soft spring but it is not a problem at all.
Cheers,
Stew.

Hi Stew,

The design features should keep you safe. We're constantly working on refining the spring on these one hand opening slip joints. We need a spring that will permit safe one hand opening, yet still be strong enough to be/feel safe when open. No one else has ever done this before so there is little history to work on except our own. With the varaiables involved (spring material, form and heat treat) as well as tang shape, it's a very small window we're seeking. Each new sized model repeats the problems as the new size changes all of the variables.

We appreciate the input as we are still working with the Squeak. It's a new design and feedback is how we improve. The first run permited the edge to hit the spring. That's been changed for the 2nd run. Perhaps making the spring a "tad" stiffer might be better?

Thank you Sal.

As you say, the design makes it a very small niggle - it could easily be a friction folder and be just as safe to me.

Was just a bit curious really. :D
Cheers,
Stew.
