That day couldn't come soon enough. :(

For all we know, the other company could continue to make it for another five years, but hopefully it won't be that long. :)

That other company is not even a competitor, they are in the pry-bar business. :D

I just started a thread asking how much the Lum folding tanto is worth. I originally bought two. I have straight edge G10 scales with the DLC black finish and I'm considering selling it. It's not that I don't love it but I really want a strider and in these tough times the only way I can even justify a strider to myself is if I've sold things of equal value to get it.

We've been begging Sal to make more of these for years now and I just don't see it happening. Last year I started a big thread asking for an updated tanto folder and Sal responded that if enough people expressed interest he would make it. So I guess that means tanto folder lovers are still too few. Your best bet is bidding on the excellent condition black lum tanto folder I'm about to put up on eBay.

Indeed. ;)

I know that I would purchase one for sure. I have been looking for a lum tanto half-assedly, but obviously am not trying hard enough. If it were to be a sprint run, that would be cool. Okay, now the bigger question. How do we get the other company to stop making them?? :D

My thread is alive again!

If we stop buying them, they will stop making them. I have to admit that I bought two. I love Ti framelocks and am not scared of M4. Wish it had a round hole and was thinner ground. Still like the Spyderco version better. Still maintain that I would buy a few.

The concept of a Lum Tanto folder is being entertained by the Sales dept.

Given that all he ever posts are links to eBay auctions by that seller, what do you think? He's even polluting the Gallery with his eBay SPAM.

Does anyone know if the leather sheath that came with the original tanto had a belt loop/clip? I can't seem to find a pic of the back of the sheath.

Thanks.

I don't have one, and while I've seen pictures of the front, I've never seen the back. But on the basis of those front views, I suspect that it is set up something like the leather Moran sheath, with two layers of leather on the back and slots in the outer layer. I wouldn't be surprised, however, if the orientation of the slots is more vertical.

Sal, I recently discovered your knives so sorry for being late to the party but let me say a couple things:
I have not come across another company that makes such a diverse line of quality knives. In the past few months I have researched and purchased many spydercos: tenacious, Chicago, khukuri, barong, massad ayoob (my fav!), and PPT. I saw pictures of the Lum tanto and knew I had to have one-and I'm not even that big on tanto style blades. Please count me as one who would love to see this model reissued!
Thank you for listening to your loyal customers. I know I certainly apreciate it. Please remake this knife.
Sorry for the long post.
