Oh yes, but then it is a relatively heavy blade. However I can flick open most knives since I learnt the method in Michael Janich's book.

Ah, the majesty and splender of the Lum.....
Jeff,
I went with the blue Lum, and I have never regreted the purchase. As Clay mentioned, it is very easy to flick the blade open with just a minimal motion of the wrist. My cousin, (who doesn't do much with knives) was able to whip the blade out with ease with only a few practice swings. You know how nice the Wegner swings out with a nudge from the thumb? The Lum does even better, (if you can imagine!) and glides out with such ease and smoothness, then locks into place with a very subtle although pure sounding "click". I love the nested liner on this model, it makes depressing the lock very effortless. My suggestion is that you pull your SpyderFunds together and buy yourself one of the best designs out there.
You can't go wrong with the Folder!!
Good luck, Jeff!

Clay, I'll have to get that book. Thanks for the response.
Spydernut, I am going to buy one. Currently, my local dealer is looking into their availability to him. I simply can't sit by and let this beauty go unexperienced. Thanks for the detailed description of the operation and manipulation of this knife. One of the things I like best about the Wegner is this "blade heavy power assist" feature upon opening. I know I will REALLY like the Lum Chinese now. Your description is just what I was looking for.
Appreciatively, Jeff.

Jeff,
Sorry for the delay in replying, I had not re-read this thread. I find the placement of the clip to aid me in opening it quite fast as soon as I take the knife out of my pocket. It's currently in tip-up mode and I carry it in my right jeans pocket, so it's perfect for "quick draw". This is also the setting that Carlos originally had it in, so I have to give credit to his good judgment. The grip is the perfect size for my hands, no problems in that department either. It's really the perfect knife!
Kahz
I love and rock and roll!

Kahz, Spydernut, Clay...
Regarding clip orientation on the Lum Chinese, I think that probably the one I last handled was setup for tipdown carry.
In the face of this relentless barrage of positive opinion and feedback regarding this knife, I guess I don't have any choice but to place the call today ordering one through my local shop.

Jeff
Go ahead and give in to the temptation!
I did last week and picked up a blue Lum PE folder from a dealer in Michigan.
It's certainly different from my other Spydies with the slim handle and wide blade. It's shape will make it a conversation piece, but it should also be a great cutter with the VG-10 and flat grind.
