Like the previous year, and the year before that etc..., we will see a few new Kopas this year. You all know the specs so I won't bother you with that. One version is made with squash bone and the other features a carbon fiber inlay. The carbon fiber is finished similarly to the carbon fiber Kiwi. I've already put the carbon fiber Kopa high on my wishlist.
Another addition to the Ladybug family is the H1 steel version with its familiar bright yellow handle. I'm glad to see two edge options, I favor the SE in this small format. Funny how the knife seems to be bigger now that I've become used to the tiny Bug knife.

thanks for the pictures Wouter! simply beautiful. the Cat looks brilliant. .. [currently trying to strengthen right hand to be ambidextrous.. hahaha :D ]
I'm not sure if the production version will have jimping, I didn't check. I was mostly preoccupied with the possibility of having a lefty clip option. :o I'm sure Sal or Kristi will chime in to give a definitive answer.
GoMeR wrote:Thanks for the pics and videos, there are so many nice new blades this year its gonna be tough to choose and stay within budget! Did the rumored Ti Military framelock prototype make an appearance? Of all the upcoming blades we have heard about, that is the one I am most looking forward to! Well that and about 10 others! :D
It was at the show and I did get to play with it, but in Spyderco parlance it's not a production prototype, it's a concept model. This means I cannot post pics of it and it is still a long way from production. :o
It was a really really schweet knife though! For me, they don't have to tweak anything it was perfectly finished, centered you name it, definitely a keeper. :D

A CF family is irresistable. :D
+1... I love the CF treatment on the Sage I. The Chicago and Cat will be very nice to add to the collection. The basketweave is just a great feeling grip compared to that used on the Caly3 CF or Native, IMO.
Regardless can't wait to purchase and they are on my Wishlist!
I really wish the chokwe wasnt a frame lock. I think I would be much more interested. I will probably still buy one though...

I think I need to clarify that the carbon fiber on the prototype Cat and Chicago is finished like the CF on the Native IV and the CF Caly III. The overall shape and lock, wireclip etc... is very much like the Sage 1.
Thanks for all the excellant pictures and videos.....It would be reeeeeal tough laying off of any of these new knives.....What is Squash Bone??? It seems interesting!! Thanks .....John
...Far more .....:spyder: than i need But no where near as many as I want......

Wouter
Thanks for the clarification... huh guess I'm in the minority with prefering the "rougher" finish rather than the smooth CF.
I'll still get it tho Thanks Mr Blonde!!! appreciate all the effort you put in.
It's truly wonderful to see photos of the Chokwe folder... especially with the original fixed blade. Thanks so very much for such great pictures... I am extremely, extremely excited to have a Chokwe in my pocket! :D
Mr Blonde wrote:The Chokwe is a large folder, with a blade in the 4 inch range. The folder features a G10 slab and on the clipside a handle slab from titanium with a Reeve Integral Lock. The clip is set up for right-hand tip-up carry only.
The clip appears to be reversible to tip down in the picture. Will the clip interfere with the frame lock in a tip down config? Was that just an "oops" on the prototype or something? Thanks again for the pics and vids Wouter.
Eric posted a little while ago about an 87mm Manix 2 and said there would also be a larger version. You filmed him at the show demonstrating a 93mm Manix 2. Did you see two sizes of Manix 2? given that the new Manix has been repeatedly described as "larger", is the 93mm the new mini or big Manix? Thanks.
