ZDP Lum Chinese Folder just landed!
The factory often gets knives from Japan, and releases them to dealers, in batches of 200. Some "limited production" models can be hard to get, because the makers can only produce 200 a month.TheSavageRabbit wrote:How does Spyderco release knives to dealers? In batches? All at once?

I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.
Most models have gone up 3 to 5%, but the Backup got the big increase. You get no explanation from SF, but I am assuming the ramped up technology on the Backup (LED @ 80 lumens w/ just one 123A Lithium batt) must have cost more to produce than originally thought. Retail now is $149.00 from $110.00!!Mr Blonde wrote:Price increase for the Backup? Just the backup or all SF Models?

Wouter :D :p
There you have almost all my favourite knives in the one shot ! All it needs is Persian and Kopa and it'll be heaven. Nevertheless the comparison shows 3 blade shapes, 3 lock types, and 3 colours of 3 of Spyderco's more sought after designs.
Congrats on grabbing one of the first Black Lums....you are making me tremble in anticipation of receiving mine soon (hopefully)

I want to thank you once more for convincing me to get Orange UKPK, it is the beauty.
Yours on the picture looks even better than mine. May be I should put a clip on the left side? :D :D :D

I really like idea of the picture with Persian and Chinese together. I think they will look good. I leave this to professionals. :)datan wrote:Wouter

I must say that so far, I like it a lot. The 'tactical capabilities' don't interest me much. I like the heft and size a lot. The Schmidt cardridge is definitely a few steps up, compared to the Parker pens I'm accustomed to. Things I like best about the SF pen is the clip, complete lack of sharp edges, smooth operation and the adaptability to any cartridge.J Smith wrote:So how do you like the SF pen.
I am thinking of getting one.
With the clip design and the totally smooth body, this pen is easily clipped to pockets, IWB, jacket, packs and bags. Between my knives, keys, phone and wallet, there's not much real estate left on my person (especially now in summer) for a conventional pen. Conventional pens and their clips can be either too flimsy or to sharp (poking holes in my clothes); not so with the SF pen.
When you unscrew the glass breaker tip you have access to a screw that can be turned to correctly mate the SF pen to almost any cartridge you can think of. And the opening/closing action is still as smooth as the door on a luxury car.
