What's your job???
Last year of high school, final exams start next Friday and go for a month. Then next year it'll be uni doing a bachelor's of engineering (mechatronics), possibly combined with a masters of biomedical engineering.

Used to be a french teacher in high school. Not too much job in those days. Then life gave me two children that I love (3 yo boy and 8.5 yo girl). Been working at a law book store for the past 9 years. Love the people I work with, hate the job. It evens out. Been studying to go back to teaching. Should start in January 2007. Wish me luck.
Pretty nervous about quiting a job, no income with 4 mouths to feed. But I trust my talent....

**ahem**
"Troubleshoot and repair of electical assemblies" <-- what the company tells us to say :p
Electrical Technician... working on Cisco systems, CableVista/CableLynx systems (distribution end of cable TV), and wireless internet (2.4GHz) boards.
As the OEM we have 70% of north america on our internet products and 80% on our cable tv products.
Spent the last 2 weeks swearing over the specs for our Comcast contract and failing board after board. 45 boards in 10hrs on 8 stations the one day, the same test on all of em. Our 'standard' parts are 1mm x 0.5mm.
Some days go by easily, some drag on. Most days I fix 6-9 boards, some days it's 15.... days like today I get 3 done
Make as much in 2 weeks as I did in a month at the tarp factory, but now I burn myself about once a week.

Why do people worry more if you argue with your voices than if you just talk with them? What about if you lose those arguements?
Slowly going crazy at work... they found a way to make the voices work too.

I'm a 40 year old flexographic printer.
At the moment I work via an unemployment agency at a factory which prints labels they put on beer cases.
My contract with the agency ends about December an I hope to get a contract from the factory it self.
I like the atmosphere over there very much. There's almost no authority(so no manager breathing in your neck) so we are very free in our work.

Ah, yes, that was the path i was on when I started college directly out of high school. During the interim being out of school I got my certification and worked as a CPhT for awhile before returning to school on the Podiatry route.zenheretic wrote:I'm a Pharm. I am a 19 year old student just starting a degree (MEng hopefully) in Electronic and Electical Engineering :D (I was learing about complex numbers to day, I hate i) It's nice to see lots of other engineers on here.
That is the field that I am strangely drawn to  as there are lots of jobs but I don't know how the jobs compare to the electronics side.will_77 wrote:I'm an electrical engineer in the power industry, power transmission and distribution to be precise.
