My current cup got a bit of a crack in it when it dropped from over six feet up and landed on concrete...... so......
I'm about done with the cup part, now gotta work on the handle. Wood is Japanese Cherry from a branch I trimmed off a tree in my yard about a month ago now.

There’s that knife getting some good use. What do you treat the cup with, and is it okay with hot drinks?

Yes Jazz, I've definitely been using it - to include on this cup.
I kept the bte at 0.019" and refined the primary a bit with some higher grit stones to take out a lot of the scratches from the rougher stones, from where I thinned it. I also took a little more off the "bumps" on the finger portion of the handle. I like it very much.
As to what I'll use to treat the cup with, In the past I've used pure tung oil, but it discolors the wood a little and I don't care for that so much. So what I'm going to try on this one is just regular ole' food grade mineral oil, and see how that does. The tung oil seemed fine once fully catalyzed/dry, in regards to how it acted/tasted with hot liquids. We'll see how the mineral oil does in time...
Worked a little on it, on the handle. I'll likely take a bit more wood off on the handle, "here & there". For now I've soaked it with water to let the "hairs" stand up so I can knock them off with some sandpaper.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Spyderco has excellent 8cr13mov. The sharpenability is unreal. Popping hairs without touching the skin is easily attained. Takes a very high polish when desired in little time. Edge likes to roll under abusive cutting (expected). No chipping in my experience. Edge retention is not abysmal, but not great either. If you like sharpening and getting screaming sharp edges quickly, it can be a fun and rewarding steel.
I'm still carrying my bed (8cr13mov) and cruwear pm2 (posted a pic the other day). This thread reminds me to switch things up though, and I feel I will soon.
