Need Help Choosing

#1

Post by dl1340 »

have a black g-10 s30v pm2 as the first spyderco I purchased. Followed that up with a Spyderco Domino C172CFBLTIP, CTS XHP Steel, Titanium Frame & Blue Weave Carbon Fiber Handle. I ordered a manix2 Light weight but didn't like the handles. I have found a Spyderco Sage Knife Carbon Fiber Handle S30V and also found a Manix 2 black g-10 handles with cpm-s30v. Anybody have both and can tell me which one you like better. Don't think I can go wrong with either one

Both those knives are great sage 1 probably is one of my favourite knives. If you're going to go with a manix try to find a sprint so you get the benefit of the skeletonized liners. Saves about an ounce of weight. 4 oz as opposed to 5 oz. if that's a big deal for you. The sage is more sheeple friendly if thay is a concern.
Current favorite: Manix 2 with carbon fiber scales and cru-ware.

Between those two, I'd take the Sage. But it depends on what you want and like in a knife. I find the Sage easier to carry, and the liner lock more comfortable to use in general than the caged ball bearing.

Those are pretty different knives. I find the G10 manix to be too heavy. The Sage 1 is a very nice knife especially if you like CF handles.

For an amalgam of the benefits of both of those knives I highly recommend the Sage 3. It's a bit more refined than the blue-collar manix, the F&F are amazing, and the bolt action lock is a joy to use. But you are correct, you can't go wrong with either.

Both are very high quality, awesome F&F, outstanding blades.

Both are way different.

What do you want it for?

- EDC wise: Sage 1.

- Hard Work blade: Manix 2.

Isn't the Manix close to your Domino in size? I'd definitely go with some variation of the Sage, if only for variety! (Don't get me wrong: I love my Manix 2 sprint...)

The Manix is just a wee bit larger than the Domino, pretty much in every way. If you like the Sage, I would absolutely recommend the Sage 3 with the bolt lock, it's a superb knife and would make an excellent EDC.

Imo, the Sage is something you need to own. Incredible F&F.

But can I add, try a Delica. Myself and numerous others tend to go back to the Delica, even after owning more "higher-priced" or more "upper-class" Spydercos.
