k2 or slysz bowie

Thinking about a new large folder. Want to go with one of these I believe. What one would you choose and why? I do love 10v but want your opinions. Thanks, Russ

I personally would go with the K2. I don't have any folders that big(yet) and I feel like I need a large folder for my collection. K2 is much cheaper, and you get a huge piece of 10V. Just my opinion! :)

Big difference in size. Slysz Bowie is highly refined. K2 is a slicing demon.
Personally, Slysz Bowie is the best Spyderco folder ever! On the other hand, K2 always puts a smile on my face.

I easily chose the Slysz Bowie, which I find a joy to carry and use. The K2 seems just too big, heavy and wide to see any carry time in my pocket. Not to mention the extremely upswept blade shape is not my favorite. And if I want a larger knife, I already have plenty of Millies laying around.

Hi Folks!

It's all about what are you planning to do with it: :)

EDC wise the Slysz Bowie, by far.

Outdoor/Very Hard Use the K2. :D

I find it odd that all four of these knives are titanium framed but only the dice and domino have the replaceable stainless steel insert in the lock bar. Is the insert just hype?

Edit - I forgot about the lil lion spy having one
Current favorite: Manix 2 with carbon fiber scales and cru-ware.

Just a design choice, and it has tradeoffs like any other. I, for one, think it is a nice warm and fuzzy to have, and an elegant solution when it duals as an over-travel stop. That said, I don't actually own one with the insert, and I'm not at all worried about my southard.

Bowie every time. The K2 is just too big for what I want in a folder, anything bigger than a Military and I carry a fixed blade. Not too fond of the blade shape and handle on the K2 for hard use either.

The Bowie is very close to a perfect EDC knife for me, while the K2 isn't a type of knife I use at all..

The Bowie is about as flawless as a production folder could come! But if you're looking for a large folder, K2 may be your cup of tea. It's huge!

If you are looking specifically for a LARGE folder, the K2 is the obvious choice. The Slysz Bowie is more a mid-size folder.

Both have thin enough handles that they would carry nicely in the pocket.

I, personally, would choose the Bowie for a couple of reasons: firstly I cannot carry blades >4" and secondly I think the finishing work done to the Bowie justifies the price difference.

But YMMV.

If a LARGE folder is what your looking for the K2 is the answer. for a more refined smaller EDC the bowie is the answer.

I do not own a K2 but do own a Bowie for what its worth...

I'm trying to decide Bowie or Rubicon.
Both are $275 @ KW.
Both are very nice from what I understand.
I love a flipper. But I also like the extra blade length of the Bowie. As of now, I'm leaning towards the Rubicon....

I'm a little biased towards the K2 as I'm not too crazy about the Bowie. But you have to handle that monster before making your choice. BTW, my Rubicon is on its way home... :)

They are very different knives. The Bowie is hands down the better knife to carry and use, IMO. But the Rubicon is a real beauty and an amazing display of craftsmanship. I'm glad to have both, but after carrying the Rubicon for one full day, I probably won't be carrying it again anytime soon.

Just take out the clip and grab the knife from the bottom out of your pocket.

Thank you. That's very good info to have.

I thought for sure I'd love the Rubicon above all other Spyderco folders for EDC due to the beautiful design, gorgeous CF and great flipper action. However, it's pretty thick and bulbous like a tuna fish and the lock bar is tough to disengage and sticky at the beginning although it gets much smoother.

Slysz Bowie turns out to be my favorite Spyderco folder. Smooth, very refined and fairly flat.
