I really like this knife. I missed out on this Howes pre-order, but will definitely get one soon.

But what's up with the name? I don't get it. If it's been explained, I missed it.

The knife is a collaboration with a UK knife maker named Mike Read. His original knife had a thumb stud instead of the spydie hole and was called the PITS folder. PITS stands for "Pie In The Sky". I believe the brits have a different sense of humor than we do, I don't get it either.

Yeah. Pie in the Sky seems like a strange name for a knife, with an oddly negative connotation.

This is a model I have a great deal of interest in but am unsure about pulling the trigger. I would love to see picks next to a few common models like the delica once a number of folks have these out in the wild.

The name was nothing to do with the actual knife it was the forum name Mike signed up to british blades haha

Nicely done Mr. Read and Spyderco!!!

This really is a well made folder. It's right at the 3 inch mark which I love, it's got the deep pocket wire clip, and the blade shape is fantastic.

Pics below for those like me who want comparison shots. More provided upon request. Lighting was horrible tonight, but I was excited and wanted to take the pics.

Sometimes I think a knife would look better without a spyderhole. This is not one of those times. Very nice looking.

Just got my PITS, and first impressions are very favorable. The titanium gives it a nice lightness and balance in hand. The blade has a very useful shape. And it's good looking! The clip works well and the blade "locks" open very positively. I'll try to take some better pics this weekend. I really like it so far, and am looking forward to carrying and using it.

It's very comfortable in hand. For me, the pocket clip is positioned perfectly to not interfere at all while using the knife. The only couple of small improvements I can comment on, are some of the handle edges are a bit sharp (especially the inner edges of the tension bar are noticeable in use). And the little nub that sticks out like a flipper is a little sharp in the pocket if your fingers scrape it trying to get a phone out, etc. Other than those small things, this knife is excellent. The blade really is under total control during use. You'd have to be unbelievably careless to have this close on your fingers. This knife is king of the slip joints! I'm going to enjoy using it very much. :D

I'm really enjoying the PITS. This is one of those knives that has exceeded my expectations, and I'm finding I like much more than expected (like the Techno). This knife is proving to be an excellent EDC. It carries easily, is light in pocket, well balanced in hand, has a discreet, deep carry clip. It opens easily one handed and locks firmly into position. Pressing down on the tension bar is very effective at keeping the blade "locked" open. The slipjoint mechanism seems very safe to use. The blade shape is excellent. Long enough for most tasks, a nice amount of belly, not too much or too little, a good sharp point, and an excellent slicer. And the knife looks awesome. It has a high-tech, precision machined, high quality look to it, with an elegant shape, and uses an effective and ingenious mechanism. I really really like this knife! Not to mention the resemblance to another very interesting knife, the ATR. Congratulations to Mike Read and Spyderco for this fantastic knife. As I said before, this is the king of slipjoints!

I found this photo on British blade forums. Apparently Mike Read stonewashed this for a guy. I think it looks great. I really need to give stone washing a try. Maybe some weekend the wife and kids will give me a couple minutes peace to give it a shot.

That does look nice. Something to consider when mine gets scratched up from all the carry time it's going to get!

I'm still really liking the PITS. It hasn't left my pocket since I got it.
