Post by All-R-Crazy »

I'm just wondering when Spyderco will start working on the military 2 model be cause the stop lock sounds amazing? Since its been a while since I last heard about an update on the future model I just wanted to ask if there's any New Years nuggets of info out there

At least widen the lanyard hole on the military. Call it military .5 :)

I so wish we would see a milli with a compression lock. I don't even necessarily care about a 4 way clip. Larger lanyard hole would be good too.

The 2 is definitely a unicorn, but we do know that when it shows up it will have the stop lock, not the compression lock.

I was not aware of that. Thank you for the clarification. Now to research what that is!

There are links in various threads to the patent drawings, which are pretty good reading! :spyder:

A Military with a Compression lock would be great right now, since I'm too broke to buy one anyway. That way, I could pass on it because I can't afford it, rather than passing on it because I don't care for the comp lock. I admit I'd like to see the Stop lock in person, because I can't for the life of me visualize how it works from the patent drawings.

I'd love to have one with the new powerlock, full liners, g10 scales, and maybe in s90v.

I would like to see it with the black blade, black clip, black screws and foliage green or dark olive green scales.

As a bit of a lock junkie (not a full blown one thought), I'll be excited to see this one when it gets here. It's been dangling for so long though that I'm not anxiously awaiting it.

Other than making the handle more jazzy or making the handle a bit more ridgid I don't see how you can improve on something that is next to perfect IMO. There's a reason that it's been with us since 1996>> that's because they got it right the first time.

Oh don't misunderstand me because I'm always open to improve on anything. Maybe they could change the locking system would be the only thing I would really rally around. I've always loved the Military and really loved the Spyderedged versions of years gone by.

But take heart I'm sure you'll get your wish because Spyderco is constantly evolving>> which makes them as interesting as they are.

I know what u mean I love my military but I truly want to see the stop lock more then anything and the military I thought would be a great platform for it to be tried on. So any Spyderco with the stop lock will work.

At the least, it's fast becoming an Ocelot. ;) Let's just hope it doesn't turn into a Yachtsman, or worse yet a Europa.

The Military is definitely not perfect as it's not ambidextrous. I should have got the left handed version :(

I thought that for a long time, too long actually and I avoided the military because of it.

I came upon a deal too good to pass up and picked up a Millie knowing I could move it easily if need be. What I found out was that as a lefty; the military can easily be used one handed with a little practice.

I extract the knife from my left pocket with my left hand keeping my fingernails against my thigh and my thumb on the pocket clip. This causes the knife to be in a position for immediate deployment. When closing I use my pointer finger to come across the face of the handle, disengage the lock and use my thumb in the hole to move the blade downward then to a closed position.

I can deploy, use, and close the military this way as fast if not faster than my para 2.

I really have come to love the Millie and it has become my EDC since it came in.

I should also note that i have comically small hands for a full grown human male so most Leftys should find this process easier than me.

I wish I had tried this sooner, no one should lose out on possibly the finest large EDC due to wrong handedness.

I think it's safe to assume it's being worked on, depending on your definition. Along with some couple hundred other products in the pipeline.

Thanks for the information. As a lefty I usually don't have any problems using right handed locks. The linerlock works actually quite well for me compared to the RIL for example. But I still don't want a "wrong handed" knife. If I spend that much money on a knife I want it to be perfect for me. Or almost perfect. So I guess I wait for the second generation of the knife which should be ambidextrous. By the way I also have very small hands so it wouldn't probably be much easier for me.
