...... That didn't float you're boat, (but because of this forum, you did?)
There are reviews and picture threads on here that sometimes make me think wow, I would like to own that knife.
Mine was the translucent blue manix2. Every thing about that knife was wrong for me.
Blade size to large (for me)
It locks
When would I even use it!!!!
But this forum made me changed my mind!
I've never met a Single person from this forum ,but I know that I can trust other fellow spydie nuts opinions ,test reviews and pictures.
And some of the pics are worthy of gracing a magazine cover.
So has any one else took s blind leap of faith?
Thanks
Spyder moist
+ I love my manix it doesn't see loads of pocket time but when it does im really glad that I got one!!

Orange Milles.
Re: ever brought a spydie......
That didn't float my boat but I ended up buying them anyway.... Definitely the Military. Hype, along with handling one almost every time I was at the knife shop eventually wore me down. The issues I had that kept me from buying it are still there, but I've found enough things that I like to sway my opinion for it rather than against it and I've owned 3 of them now.
I've come close on a bunch of models that I didn't end up buying. Gotta be careful with that hype monkey on your back lol.
Now that I think about it the Manix 2 is the biggest one for me. I bought one when they came out on impulse and sold it shortly after. I just didn't like the 154CM and the low hollow grind. Once it made the change to S30V and FFG I feel in love and it's my favorite Spyderco at the moment.

PM 2. It still doesn't do it for me. I don't know why. It's perfect in almost every way. Some day it will, so I'll keep it. They all come around eventually. Oh, the large Salt hawkbill I waited forever to aquire doesn't get used at all.
- best wishes, Jazz.
Re: ever brought a spydie......
I've definitely bought knives that ended up not floating my boat. But at the time, I always thought I'd like them, and it doesn't usually take much convincing from the forum.

Oddly enough, the PMII.
I like the Millie a lot better.
Everything else has pretty much been spot on. I find these guys know what they're talking about.

Southard Folder and Manix2 XL.
I bought each chiefly for the steel (didn't have 204P or S90V when I acquired these knives), but the flipper of the former and size of the latter also had me curious.
Began wondering why a flipper when the hole is a (trade?)marked Spyderco distinction; horrific clip; beadblast scatches if you look at it; got a PM2 in 204P; all eroded my affection for the beautifully-executed Southard with the best edge-to-handle ratio in my Spydie collection.
Began wondering why blade shape of the XL is not really the same as normal Manix2s (which feature my favorite blade shape); got a Manix2 LW and Native5 in S110V; both eroded my affection for the beautifully-executed Manix2 XL with its perfectly-useful steel.
Now that I think about, should the Manix2 be a lightweight knife...

Re: ever brought a spydie......
The stretch. I had no interest in it and then was persuaded by the continuos positive reviews and then when I got it I did not like it one bit just like I had assumed. It is never hard in life to convince yourself of something you want to believe and I wanted to believe that this wasn't the knife for me so I left it sitting trying to decide if I wanted to keep it. A couple months went by and I would handle it and put it away and it just never seemed right for me. Finally after much deliberation and a little coaxing I decided to erase the BNIB value and just carry it for a week straight. I was totally wrong and it truly is a wonderful knife.

Re: ever brought a spydie......
For me it was my wife's cousin going on about them. I had only seen and held a couple with the exaggerated hole and they just weren't for me. He was adamant on how great they were and said there were some that were more subdued as far as design and the hole. I went on Spyderco's page to check them out. After finding a couple that peaked my interest, I followed up by seeing what the forum members had to say about them. Then searched youtube and finally tried to find negative reviews about them. The only negative comments seemed to be concerning personal preferences and not quailty. I decided to go for it, had to order online without trying one out as no one around here carries Spyderco. I was/am thrilled with my decision to get a Cru-wear Manix-2. So much so that I now own 4 more Spydies. Now I'm waiting for that Slysz Swayback to hopefully become a reality...In the meantime I'll be spreading the word on how good Spyderco knives are.
