Absolutely! I'd prefer the more shallow serrations if possible.

Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
Yeah, I worded it that way on purpose. I was trying to get an idea of how many would actually buy one rather than how many just thought it was a neat idea. About 1 out of 3 who responded said they would indeed buy one. Not bad. I think they should definitely make a small run of them to boost sales...you know, since they're having such a hard time selling the plain edge versions! :DLiquid Cobra wrote:Hmm..I voted no as I prefer PE on my PM2's. However, if the poll had asked me if I'd like to see Spyderco make a SE version I would have voted yes. I'm sure there are many people who would love to have one, and would put them to good use. I just wouldn't be buying one personally.
I bought a SE Paramilitary (1) BNIB a few weeks ago, it wasn't for me so I sold it. Although, it may have been the knife itself and not the SE that didn't work for me.
Keep the dream alive Gringo!

Voted yes because I've got one of the PM1s with the Spyderedge. :spyder:

Spyderco knows whats up. There is a reason why they don't make one and I'll assume it has to do with past sales of the serrated para1 and military.

I agree that that shallower serrations would be better and I would like at least 3/4" of the tip PE. Where is JD when we need him to help out the poll underdog?WireEdge Roger wrote:Absolutely! I'd prefer the more shallow serrations if possible.

Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
Manix 2 yes, Para 2 no.
Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
Oh ya, I would for sure.
I think all the staple patterns should be offered in both. Maybe only do 250 at a time, let them dry up for awhile and then make another 250. The Military needs a new run as well. I love serrations, my first spydie was serrated and it was a workhorse.
They certainly are not as popular. Maybe Spyderco could offer the service for any knife for an added fee? I would pay $25 bucks to get it added to a knife. They would make money and one guy/gal could spend one day a week grinding serrations in a few knives and keep us all happy. Just a thought.

I like the way you think Jeff. I think these are solid and realistic ideas.jeffc wrote:Oh ya, I would for sure.

Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
Thanks Surfingringo. I don't see why they don't do a custom serration option? It would make it so no dealer has to stock slow movers and gives us a chance to get M4 or s90v in serrations :). They would also make money off of it. Sounds like a Win,win, win situation to me :D
Think my new mili in cruwear would get the treatment right away.

Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
I voted yes simply because I would like to have the option. For similar reasons, I suppose this is why one has the option of buying either a 4x2 OR a 4x4 pick-up truck. Not everyone needs/wants a 4x4, but they sure come in handy when the need arises.
I myself would rather have a full SE PM2 for when the need arises.
But I digress. If there is not enough interest in a full SE run, how about a compromise for CE (combo-edge)?

The poll results so far are very surprising to me. I know the Para 2 is one of the most popular platforms, and many of the Para 2 patrons love their pain edges and supersteels. Do you guys think the poll results would be similarly slanted if this poll was for another SE Military or perhaps another SE Manix 2?

Only way to know for sure would be to put those poll up, but yes, I think the results might very well be similar. Spyderco does not discontinue models or variants out of spite, they do so when sales reflect an unacceptably low level of user interest.xceptnl wrote:The poll results so far are very surprising to me. Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
I voted no because I have no use for serrations on any knife. That's just me. A well-sharpened PE cuts everything I need to cut just fine. SE is a pain to sharpen and serrations mostly just snag on material, particularly fibrous material that they are supposed to be useful for (as in rescue knives). I often have the need for clean cuts on braided or twisted poly rope and nylon webbing and sharp PE does a much better job, in my experience.
Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
Well, if we assume that these responses represent a fairly accurate sampling of Sypderco buyers (I wouldn't), then it looks like one third of the spydophiles would snap one up... maybe not so bad...
But more likely, the Spydercrew would have a better idea of how polls like this represent the general knife-buying public.
Edit: bad arithmetic :o

Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
I would find a SE PM2 extremely cool, but I'm not sure I would part with money to buy one, too many other knives on the list...
I get my SE fix from a SE Military I always carry as backup in my bag, but to tell the truth, I cannot remember when last I actually "needed" it, instead of my regular PE EDC. :o

Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
I refrained from voting because I have had a full Spyderedged, 2005 era Paramilitary model. It was a nice blade and I liked it but more than anything I want a C-36 full sized Military model in full Spyderedge. My original 440V full SE Military was truly a wrecking bar of a knife in full Spyderedge. My full SE Military and my full SE Ayoob have been my two very best Spyderedged blades I've ever owned.
There needs to be more options for many of their popular mainline models to be available in full Spyderedge on a "special order" basis if nothing else. They could get half of the money up front and get the other half when the blade is ready for delivery. That way they would not lose any money on their investment just in case there would be a Spyderedged model that didn't sell well.
Again I believe if they would bring back the Captain and Superhawk models in full SE I'm more than confident that both models would sell out fairly quickly>> as well as the Military and the Paramilitary with it's newfound popularity,

Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
I have been looking for a full serrated military for a while but the funds and the timing never seem to align. I would be in favor of that more than a para2 and the para2 is my favorite model by far. I just think I would use a full serrated military more than a full serrated para2.
Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
I would most definitely want a serrated version! Please Sal at least a couple in basic s30v black satin format!
Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
I'm with you 100% on that one because I would find many more uses for a full serrated C-36 Military model than I would it's shorter Brother the Paramilitary. Both are super folders but to me the longer the Spyderedged blade is the more I can use it agressively. The old 440V, SE Military I had was a really ridgid folder and a hard use knife all the way.bearfacedkiller wrote:I have been looking for a full serrated military for a while but the funds and the timing never seem to align. Hopefully if enough people want it back the more likely we might see a Sprint Run. We need some Sprint Runs in Spyderedge for models that were passed up like the Military, Captain and the Superhawk. They would all sell out I'm sure of it.
Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
I use to own a fully serrated ParaMilitary. I bought it used and it was my yardwork beater knife. My only problem was that the original ParaMilitary felt wrong in-hand for me. When I handled the ParaMilitary 2 prototypes I was overjoyed because they felt so much better in-hand. I later sold my SE ParaMilitary (at a profit too) and held out for a fully serrated ParaMilitary 2.
I'm still holding out for one.
