Any stainless rescue folders available?

#1

Post by chasehood »

Hello all,

Earlier today I was having a discussion with the new manager that just started at my branch. I noticed he had a crkt tanto necker sitting on his desk. I install security systems and we have tools everywhere so a knife isn't too strange to have in an office. Anyways I got excited because the only other guy that I could talk knives with just got fired two months ago. So my new manager Jedd and I started talking and he told me he is a knife nut too. I got excited and pulled out my new pm2 to show him and show him that I've got a little bit to talk about. He told me about a spyderco he had back in the day when he was a firefighter/EMT in tucson. He told me it was perfect because it was all stainless. I asked him it it had a sheepsfoot blade or some kind of rounded tip. He said no and that led me to question why he thought that was the perfect knife for his job. I thought with no traction and no safety tip it sounded like a poor choice. He then told me why. He said because it was stainless it allowed him to take it to the hospital, wash of any bodily fluids and throw it in the auto clave. I thought that was genius. Any of you guys know of any stainless rescue/EMT folders out there? Any of those public servants out there see a need for this?

Ps I'm new and just got my first spyderco 3 weeks ago. Can't wait to get more.

Who knows , a few guys may want one. I got over 25 years on the job,of the several hundred guys on my dept. I know of one who carries a sheepsfoot ( small Rescue) . Most want a general, purpose knife, and myself as an officer the last thing I want to see is a guy using any sort of knife on a pt.

As for the autoclave thing I could not see any hospital around here letting a FF run his knife through one.

For the record right now at work I'm carrying a Brown PE. Matriarch and a clip less blue PE zdp189 Delica, although most days I carry a Hinderer XM 18 and some sort of Spydeco
