Quick question on the Caly3 in VG-10 and G-10
A little late, since it's now out of production, but I've fallen in love with the Caly3 in VG-10 with the G-10 scales, even though I've never owned one. What years was this knife in production? I can't find that info anywhere (although I openly confess I'm a techno idiot; finding info on the net is not one my strengths). Thanks!

caly3 came out in the fall of 2006. I think in September.

I had some doubts about the new Caly 3 CF. I bought it even after searching hi and lo for a G10 version. I have a Barkniven S1 in VG10 and I love that steel. After receiving, today, my CF Caly 3, the one thing I noticed right off the bat was just how smooth and slick the CF is. I have a Native 5 in G-10 and I love how grippy and positive the scales feel. I think if it were me again, I'd buy the G-10 version at: http://www.opticsplanet.com/spyderco-ca ... knife.html" target="_blank for $129 but unfortunately my knife fund is depleted due to an upcoming Bark River Grind-In Sept 12th at their plant in Michigan.

I believe that's a Caly 3.5.
Re: Quick question on the Caly3 in VG-10 and G-10
The G-10 listed is for the C144 current production with the 3.5 inch blade.

oops.. you're right.. i saw both knives in the Caly 3 post and 'assumed' they were both 3's.

Just as an aside that vendor is known for not necessarily having listed items in stock & available for shipment. If you click their product availability button for that knife it says it ships in 2-5 months, which means they'll be ordering it from a distributor after you order it from them.Chuxter31 wrote: I think if it were me again, I'd buy the G-10 version at: http://www.opticsplanet.com/spyderco-ca ... knife.html" target="_blank for $129 but unfortunately my knife fund is depleted due to an upcoming Bark River Grind-In Sept 12th at their plant in Michigan.

Yeah, we really need a rerun of this knife, and not in a rusting steel.
- best wishes, Jazz.

I think I would rather see a SE 3.5 than a re-run of the 3.
Re: Quick question on the Caly3 in VG-10 and G-10
SE? Really? Last I checked, you could still get a new SE Caly 3 at W and W - not a 3.5, but just saying.

The Caly3 in G10 (C113G), plain edge, is the last knife on my want list, so I'd also like to see another run of it. Wouldn't even matter if it wasn't black, so long as it isn't orange!

As I read your post, I was clenching my pitch fork. :)Jazz wrote:Yeah, we really need a rerun of this knife, and not in a rusting steel.
I would be okay with a Caly 3, VG-10 with Orange scales (or something interesting) AND a Caly 3 in an M4 type steel with ANY colored scales.
Now that I think, I believe that people were asking for the Caly 3.5 sprint to be in M4 type steel. I think I would be okay with that.

M4 Caly 3 sounds great. I've really been wanting to try that steel.

I can put my pitch fork back in my pitch fork sheath. :)
