Carbon Fiber Ladybug?
Carbon Fiber Ladybug?
Was a CF Ladybug ever produced?
Re: Carbon Fiber Ladybug?
Hi chloe!
No, it was never produced.
But I'd love to see a CF LadyBug Sprint Run. :D

Re: Carbon Fiber Ladybug?
I did happen to see one on some website, I will try to locate it. Must have been a custom piece.
Always worry I will miss something.
Thank you for your prompt reply.
Best wishes,
Chloe

Re: Carbon Fiber Ladybug?
Probably not a custom. While Spyderco had yet to coin the term "Sprint Run" there was a run of CF Ladybugs, as well as CF versions of the Cricket and Dragonfly, produced about 15 years ago that would probably be considered Sprints today.

I find Spydiewiki to always be a great source of info on such questions:

Looks like a run of 500 was done in '97-'98. Paul, it's called a "sprint" by them (which includes you, correct? :)). I'd love to see an updated sprint in CF - Manbug, Ladybug and Jester!

I have one of the originals but if the would make a lady or manbug with the peel ply CF like on the militarys and para 2... It would be the last keychain knife I would ever need!

Re: Carbon Fiber Ladybug?
Yes, I've been a contributor to Spydiewiki, and I think it's the best single reference source we have for historical Spyderco information. However, I don't always agree with everything written there. I'm not conceited enough to think I'm always right, so my disagreement doesn't necessarily mean they're wrong, just that what they're saying doesn't jibe with data I've encountered. In this case, Sal has mentioned that his Japanese makers require 1200 to 1500 piece orders, so a run of only 500 pieces seems odd to me. As for intro date, Spyderco's Across The Years timeline puts it at 1999, but it does appear on '97 and '98 price lists, so those dates seem reasonable.RadioactiveSpyder wrote:I find Spydiewiki to always be a great source of info on such questions:

Given that they share the same handle, I'd bet that a "mixed run" of unlined CF Ladybugs and Jesters would sell quite well.

I was also going to mention that this would jive very well with the sprint Jester thread that's been started. I do like the idea of a new FRN Jester, but I don't even think people considered CF as a possibility. The Deacon wrote:Given that they share the same handle, I'd bet that a "mixed run" of unlined CF Ladybugs and Jesters would sell quite well.

That's crappy, Spencer. We had the AC on one day with 29°, then 2° or something the next. How about some moderate temps?

Re: Carbon Fiber Ladybug?
I picked up a spyderco ladybug carbon fiber knife. Ats-55 with a screw for the blade pivot instead of the standard pin. Anyone know what this knife is worth?
