Shiny Black Pocket Clip Fix?

#1

Post by MatthewSB »

Is there any way to dull the shiny finish on the glossy black Spyderco pocket clips? I'm not worried about being tacticool, but the glossy pocket clip looks lame with the dull DLC finish or G10 handles.

Any chance Spyderco could do a run of matte black pocket clips for a Delica/Endura/Para2/Yojimbo/etc.? I bet they'd sell...

You could take some very fine (1200 grit would be my first guess) sandpaper and wet sand it lightly. I would try the back side of the clip first.

Etch it with Ferric Chloride.

Bead blast it.

Strip it with a wire brush or paint stripper.

All will give you a dull gray, though the wire brush will leave a little shinier finish.
