You need to send that one back in to the mothership. Luckily I have never had this type of issue with spydy lockbacks.

Here's my 2 cents worth:

The delica was the first Spyderco i ever purchased when they came out many years ago. I'll put it this way i used to carry a Delica as my EDC to high school way back when the clip was part of the handle. It was my best pocketknife then and will always be along with my Native. Leave it the way it is or possibly:

Add jimping to the front of the blade like the Jester, offer in a CTS XHP like the Techno has, and DO NOT ever put a wire clip on the Delica. It would be ruined.

I would give it one of the old school barrel bolt clips that you can tighten with a penny like the Salts still have. Then I would replace all the torx heads with phillips or flathead. Then I would take out the liners and give it solid FRN or G10 handles. Simple, tough, field repairable Endura.

Offer a G10 version with a higher end steel like S30V or CPM 154, and bump the steel down with the price on the FRN models. Like keep the FRN one in Japan and make a higher end one somewhere else.

I think, like everyone else said, a G10/premium steel Endura would sell like hot cakes. I wouldn't want them to cheapen the current model, however, at least the blade steel. I love VG-10 and I think it kicks the rear ends of most $50-75 knife steels.

I don't have a delica yet, but I will come right out and say that I have not one single complaint about my Endura 4. As fanboy as it sounds, I will be very very impressed if I can find something that does what I need with more practicality. I don't think it will be kicked out of my pocket until I get more versions of it :D I would be very upset if the steel was changed. VG-10 is waaaaaaaaaaaay better than people give it credit for. ZDP version (and recently Super Blue) is there for people who want more edge retention, but VG-10 is, in my experience, a near-perfect blade material. Not to say I don't want/like other steels, just that I think VG-10 leaves nothing to be desired other than extreme edge retention, which again is already covered by the ZDP version.

Delica4 was my first Spydie. I like everything about the knife, but if I had to make a change, wire clip.

CPM S30V (a guy can dream) and even out the blade to handle ratio on the Delica. Deeper carry clip on both.

Put the Power-Lock in it and make the tip pointy again. :)

Im a big fan of the deep carry wire clip its definitely my favorite clip spyderco makes. I would also like to see different handle material options and different blade steel.

I've got one of every generation ( not variant though) and I'm fine with the FFG Endura just the way it is. I like trying different steels but as a user I am pretty happy with VG10. That's not something I usually say about stainless steels. Good heat treat and final hardness and it takes a great edge. Quality from knife to knife is very high IMO. Other than the occasional sprint like Super Blue I'm already very happy.

Delica 4 is a near perfect knife in my opinion. Would only like to see a wire clip and finger choil and it would be a perfect knife

G10 + Premiun Steels

#57

Post by LC Kid »

Hi Folks!

I'd love to see Delica & Endura again in G10, or with a Wire Clip, and using Top Notch Steels like S30V, CTS-XHP or CPM154.

And I also know that will never happen.

Those are iconic models, and the long time best sellers for Spyderco, so there's not a single reason to change anything about them.

^Called the Caly.

Delica 4 was my first Spyderco and is a slam dunk EDC IMO, wouldn't change a thing, except maybe more handle colors for pants friendly concealment. (I'm aware Kahr arms is offering something like this but I can't bring myself to buy one due to the shortened blade and hollow grind AND increased price.)

The only thing that I could come up with was to make another size in-between. I think it would make a great user knife: bigger than Delica, but smaller than Endura.

Just the opposite, heavy cutting with the molded handles is much more comfortable than with the harder cornered G10. The G10 does look good however.

I would 'improve' the Delica by changing to the Endura, especially in Super Blue.
