As for alleve versus Advil, sound like a future comparison thread in the making.

The blade on the Native was just too short. :D

I primarily carry an s110v SnG, but when I have the need, I also carry a PM2 cts-20cp. A perfect duo IMHO. Hard use and a slicer. Both bad *** to the bone. But for those times when a fixed blade is called for, I'll clip that k390 mule on my belt. And the more I use it, the more impressed I am with it. And the more carry it gets. I can skin a beef, and it'll still cut through kryptonite.

As much as I like s110v, I'm not sure how much use the new s110v mule is going to get. I know. I know. It's crazy.... But, K390???...it's like a school girl crush... :p I want MORE knives in that steel. Has there ever been a production knife released in a better tool steel than k390? At anywhere even remotely close to that price? Just the thought makes me tingle and blush. And want MORE...

Opps, this is a thread about s110v. Ahem, yes, a truly awesome steel... :D

I think once you use it you will like it a lot, I doubt you would see much of a real difference in real use. :)

I have been so impressed with my k390 mule that I decided to pass on the s110v. I think k390 is my end all be all steel (for me and what I do).

As many others have said, I also thank you for doing the tests--especially when considering you have health issues.

The only other experience with S110V is my Phil Wilson and that made me order two MT18's (for the record, I sold one of my MT18's to a knife-loving buddy for the same price as I paid). I have had a Native 5 in S110V on order but do not have it yet. I sharpened the MT18 tonight on my Wicked Edge and will say it is hard. It doesn't seem to be as hard as the South Fork but it's hard. I re-profiled it to 15°/side and it took a little bit of work.

I have not been as enamored with my MT17 as others have and I believe this is because it's not stainless. I didn't think this would be such a big deal to me (I have a K390 coming from David Williamson) but my MT17 does not like the way I treat her.

Some of Ankerson's posts make me think about sending my MT18 off to be bumped-up to 62-63 RC (my South Fork is 63). I did this with a knife in M390 and was pleased with the results (HT was done by Paul Bos). I was amazed at how little it actually costs to have this service done. Etching is hard to see after HT, though, but this would not bother me at all as I USE my knives and do not buy them for resale.
