I don't know if I would say it polishes it, but it brings back that deep rich black color. I also like using mineral oil instead of other oils because it's food safe, doesn't stink, and I feel like it's better to be on my hands from using the knife than something like WD40. I did try WD40 too long before using mineral oil, and it had the same effect looks wise, but I changed to mineral oil for the food safe qualities. A little big goes a LONG way too.

My Yo2 has had quite a bit of grinding done to the handle, and it looks "factory" as far as the shade of black.

The food safe thing is good I think. But at my age I am so close to coffin I don't think about it too much. Then again,,, maybe now is when I need to think about it more. :) I've also seen where people use mineral oil as a pivot lube for the same reason. Guess I'll have to get some and try it.

Nice job on the handle. I like what you did at the area where the opening hole is when closed. I made a D'fly handle recently and the original handle has the same shape right there. I didn't do that to my handle so I could finish sooner and also I was worried I'd mess it up. But the first handle I made was imperfect so I fixed it. Now, it is much better but it still has a slight flaw but I could live with it (for a while). BUT, I think I'll try grinding the shape on this handle because 1) I did want to do it, just didn't and 2) if I screw it up it will be on a handle that is already slightly flawed and 3) it will be good for practice.

Time to get the tools. :D

I think we would all LOVE to hear more about your mod, Diabelek! I haven't taken apart a Pingo, but I assume it doesn't have any washers, so you likely had to add those, right? How about the pivot and backspring - did you use them unmodified?

Beautiful work!

I love it! I love when I mod a blade and the top gets polished. Don't know why - the rest can stay as it is, but I really like that. Thanks for sharing.
- best wishes, Jazz.

Great work Dexter! Is the tang flat stonewashed on that Manix or did you tape it off?

You forgot to stonewash the washers. :)

I'd like to know about your stonewashing stuff. All I have is some stones I got at Ace Hardware that normally go in a flower bed and a small plastic butter bowl or something. I put stones and blade in the butter bowl, spray in WD-40 or something, close it up, tape it and shake it all up for a long time. Gotta be a better way. :) Rock tumblers and stuff like that. I've seen where you can spend quite a bit on this stuff. Not bank breaking amounts if you use it but if you don't stonewash any more than I do it's a lot to pay for it to sit around the house. I have heard of people putting their "whatever" in the dryer all wrapped in a towel to protect the dryer. How do you do it?
