You are correct about our photos. We were so close to getting the web live and the new release was just coming out.
You guys have some awesome photos! Would it be possible to use a few on our website?

Let me know and I'll talk with my web designer. In particular black/OD green, black/forest green, gray and ranger green are hard to see.

My Halpern Canvas Micarta handles arrived Sat 8 Feb. Top to bottom, Olive Drab Canvas "3D" (Option 4), Natural Canvas "3D" (Option 4), and Natural Canvas flat (Option 5)

The photo below shows the inside of each scale as well. The photos didn't capture the fact that the insides of the scales have a shiny, mirror-like finish.

Thanks VashHash & boonedawg, I'd be honored if they used any of my pics & they're welcome to do so, but the only other ones I have to photograph now are 3D Ranger Green & Coyote, and flat Olive Drab & Foliage Green.

Thanks so much for the photos- I'll check with my web designer to see what we have to do to get a few photos of the colors and textures that are hard to see. The web pages were starting to get too much information, so I wanted to get going. We couldn't put 29 photos of all the different options, but a few showing carbon, Micarta, rosewood, black/forest green, black/od green, foliage green, earth brown and coyote would be very important.
I/m not sure how to go about this, but I'll do something by the end of next week.

Is it proper for me to ask individuals to send photos to me personal email? Is that okay with forum rules?

If you can do that, I'll offer a free mule scale (both sides and hardware) for any photos I can use on my website. (4-5?) especially the ones that are hard to distinguish.

My email is mh@halperntitanium.com and did you know we have an email mules@halperntitanium.com?

Pics of some of the Halpern scales I've purchased are here, in the other Halpern Mule thread:

Marianne, PM or email me if you want these or any others I've shot (like my Swick CF pics, http://www.spyderco.com/forums/showthre ... post916315)

Amazing shipping from halpern. My scales are in already. Talk about speedy shipping on both halpern and usps. My mules should be in sometime this week. Guess I'll have to try that micarta on the K390 just to make sure it fits ;) i just hope i can take em off after. They might get stuck ;)

Right now we are gearing to ship 2 times a week so Kyle can get a good rhythm with a pile of orders. The Option 4 were so popular we actually ran out of the long pivots. We are making more pivots today, so shipping can resume on Wednesday.
We had more orders in one week than we have had in our best month over the last 3 years.

These new pivots will be slightly smaller in diameter to help out on the steel blades that are a bit tight.

You guys are so cool helping me make this program a success for Halpern. All the stars aligned with the release, our website with lots of options. We are so glad that we have a bunch of new customers needing some Swick handles. I bought more Emory boards yesterday!

Back to work- my boss thinks I'm spending too much time on the Spyderco Forum.

Got my OD green Micarta 3D scales came in today. I don't have MT18 yet, but I had to get them on a knife. I really like the feel in hand and the Micarta is really cool. Inside pics are not the greatest, but I am too excited to not post some!

FYI, when I pulled the scales off the K390 Mule to put these on, I had some rust spots, so I Flitzed it up and then treated it with a Tuff Cloth. I got some Tuff Cloth on the scales, and it freaked me out, but just appeared wet so I waited and it didn't do anything bad, so I wiped the whole scales to look uniform. That is why it looks richer than brand new. Hopefully, I didn't ruin them!

Marianne,
Got 4 different #4 handles(Rosewood Dymondwood, Natural G-10, Jet Black and Natural Canvas Micarta). The star of the group is the Rosewood Dymondwood. It has the grain structure of wood and a complexity of pattern. The brown and black shades flow like water in a stream. I got two sets and each pattern is slightly different. I really like wood with interesting grain and Dymondwood combines resins and wood to give a tough and beautiful scale.
The different kinds of Dymondwood can be found here. Since you already use them, Heritage Walnut (2) and Cocobolo Macassar (4) would be great on your next run. I would certainly buy two of any you produce.
What would an bold pattern like Vermont Marblewood (16) look like on a mule scale? Would it be possible to make samples of different kinds of Dymondwood? Then you could do a poll to determine the most popular pattern. I wonder what the favorite would be now by just looking at the web site?
Thanks for the great scales.

I like the option 4 but I actually like the option 5 more. Slimmer, lighter, simpler, cheaper, good in hand.

Thanks for taking the time to answer.
Within a few weeks we will make some heritage brown and cocobolo.
It gets tricky (euphemism for expensive) to expand our choices too much.
We launched our website with a good stock of every color and style .
I wanted to be sure if a customer chose an item and paid with a credit card, he item should be available.
To do that we end up with an excess stock of some items.
From past history I knew we needed lots of carbon. Blue and orange.
I tried od green Micarta (expensive material) and it has been a hit so
I may run out.
I'm writing from my iPhone so I'll answer more tomorrow from my desk computer.
Thanks again for the feedback.

Hi Marianne, I received my shipment yesterday and think a mistake may have been made, I received the Option 5 scales which I ordered, but I think they came with the Option 4 hardware, the screws are a lot longer than the other Option 5 scales I had from before, and after trying to put them on my Mule, I found out that even if I tighten the screws all the way, there is still a little bit that sticks out and the scales wiggle about a lot. Do you think it was possible that I received the different set of screws? I compared them to my older set and the older set of screws are .18 inches long and the newer ones are .21 if that helps.

I also measured the scales, and they are .125 inches thick, and my other set are .150, although I'm not sure which is the proper size. thanks!

Just heard back from Marianne, and they're sorting everything out, thanks!

Hi Bill
The carbon scales are .125 and most of the G10 is .140". The shorter screws (4-40 x .187" long) work for the different thicknesses, Option 4 Mules, Option 5 Mules and the Swick. At one point I believe we used longer screws for the Option 4 but that was another possible nightmare.

Somehow you must have gotten some longer screws.
They headed out USPS flat rate today, so you should have on Saturday.
