Is the hype about this knife really got some basis?- http://www.mountsplus.com/AR-15_Accesso ... -10KZ.html, most survivalist and prepers endorse and talk about this knife. What makes this knife so ahead of the pack?

I think this should be in the off topic section.

Inexpensive, light, pointy, LAWKS system keeps liner lock from failing where other similar quality knives might.

I would take a Tenacious or a comparable Byrd every time.

This should be Off Topic, but no harm done. Welcome!

Look at it this way: You know you are doing something right, design wise, when everyone starts copying you.

Then go look at who has copied that LAWKS system. You can count it on the fingers of one head. ;)
Warhammer 40000 is- basically- Lord Of The Rings on a cocktail of every drug known to man and genuine lunar dust, stuck in a blender with Alien, Mechwarrior, Dune, Starship Troopers, Fahrenheit 451 and Star Wars, bathed in blood, turned up to eleventy billion, set on fire, and catapulted off into space screaming "WAAAGH!" and waving a chainsaw sword- without the happy ending.

Well, the LAWKS system is patented. I don't really have anything bad to say about CRKT. I don't have too much experience with them, and never even held an M16. But I like a few of their design, and own a few.

I would never buy that over a spyderco or benchmade of equal price. It could have hype based off its name, or its tacticool looks. As far as specs are concerned, its nothing special

I get the idea that most survivalists and preppers really don't know what they're talking about. These knives are good for abuse, but they're using AUS-4 which is a pretty low end steel. It'll take an edge, but it won't hold it very long in comparison to even 8crMoV13 (I think I got that right). You can buy a Spyderco, or any of the big three, for about the same price in better steel and with better features. I used to see these a lot when I was in the military, and they'll cut stuff, but the edges won't last long.

I would definitely go for another blade over the M16. The Aus-4 has always put me off enough that I would never buy it. If you want a good knife thats not too expensive, I would look into the SOG flash 2. Much better blade(Aus-8) Depends on what style of the knife you get (black blade, digicam Etc.) but usually it can be had for around $40-50.

Absolutely agree with that. It's not a bad knife, but it is nothing special. But I have to say that the Veff serrations are great. I own a M21 with Veff serrations but I hardly use it because I own a lot of Spydercos ;) They cut way better and that is the most important thing a knife should be capable of.

Welcome rifleman88 to the forum :)

I handled one a while back and was quite impressed with the speed and smoothness of the flipper opening. However I didn't like the lock system because it was almost impossible to close with one hand, unlike the backlock on a Spyderco. I also didn't like the holes in the handle scales.

I have the large M16-14 Tanto version. I thought it was a good knife when I bought it, but I quickly learned that it's edge retention is no bueno.
