Endura Gen1 and Delica Gen1 (I think) - Value?

#1

Post by Glock19Fan »

Hello,

I purchased these two Spyderco's many years ago. I think it was in the 90's. One is the Endura and the other a Delica which has a serrated blade. I am looking to sell these 2 and was wondering what the value is.

The Endura blade has Spyderco AUS - 8 Stainless on one side and SEKI-City Japan on the other. The handle is molded into the frame.

The Delica blade has Spyderco ATS-55 on one side and SEKI-City Japan on the other side.

They both have the small, circular emblems on the handles.
I tried posting photos but got an error message each time. Sorry

Thanks!

If they are in good shape I would expect the value to be on par with a current Delica/Endura in similar condition. $35-55 depending on people are are shopping for a vintage Spydie :) .

Generation One Enduras and Delicas were G2 steel, now known as Gingami-1...but nice find anyway...

Not all of them, Stuart. Some of each were AUS-8. OTOH, AFAIK, no first generation Delicas were ATS-55. I suspect Glock9Fan's Delica also has a metal clip and, if so, it's a 2nd generation FRN Delica (generally referred to as the Delica 3 because the Delica 2 is all stainless). Beyond that, there are folks who like the older versions, so I'd concur with Blake regarding values.

First gen enduras had three steel markings; 4 including the one without in this order, none, G-2, Gin-1( same steel as g-2), and later runs were in AUS-8. Ats-55 however was only on The Gen 3's of the Endura and Delica.

Thanks Paul...I had a niggling suspicion that I might have been wrong, as I remember seeing an AUS-8 Endura alongside mine when I bought it, and the salesman told me that G2 ( an unknown steel to me at the time ) had better edge holding...

We almost need a day by day encyclopedia for the steel types used by Spyderco as the years have gone by? Ahh, dreams...

Here's a picture of a late model Gen1 Endura in AUS-8 and a Gen3 Endura in ATS-55.

It's not exactly as requested but a great resource to check once in a while. It's still a distant second to Paul's reminiscing brain ;) .
