Does anyone here remember Swede?
Funny story. A good friend of mine here in Costa Rica (another expat from the states) has always told me that his father was a big spyderco lover and still has a huge collection. So recently I was telling him how I'm trying to hunt down a military in m4 and he suggested I give his dad a ring in the states to see if he had one. I rang my buddies dad, who I'd never met, and we had an hour long conversation about spyderco knives. I told him I participated in the forum here and he said he used to hang out here under the handle Swede.
Anyway, I thought it was just kind of a neat story. I asked him who he remembered and the first name he mentioned was the Deacon. He said thanks for correcting him about the 2 screw worker deacon! :D
Also says hi to you Sal and asked if you still have your lotus.

I remember Swede as one of the well spoken and knowledgeable "old timers" here when I was a "noob". I'm sure I learned a few things from him over the years. Say Hi to him for me.
As for Sal and Lotus, he's mentioned several times over the years that Colin Chapman"s philosophy of "simplicate and add lightness" was one of his inspirations. He's also mentioned owning them in the past. Not sure if he currently has one, thought he mentioned owning an Elise, but can't find a reference to that.

I was an F1/sports racer junky in the mid 50's. Watched Stirling Moss race at Riverside in California. Ended up a Lotus student. Have had a few in the past. I've been to the factory a few times, got a drive with a test driver in a turbo Esprit on the factory race track.
Studied Colin Chapman's "mind". "Simplicate and add lightness". One of my mentors and a stong influence in my knife designs.
