Would love to hear feedback on the steel. Anyone have any chipping issues or anything like that? Unfortunately, I haven't carried mine much. :o

Good question! Same hear not a lot of usage yet. I'm wondering about the S110V performance aswell, I must say I cut a least 3 strips of paper and no issues :D

Mine has seen a lot of plastic bags, cardboard and wood pencils, but nothing extreme. My dad beats on his knives (you should see what he did with the Caly Jr I gave him a few years ago) so I'll check to see if he's carried his much.

I love mine. Currently 2013 Forum Native5 is my most used knife. I do not abuse it. regular staff: letters, cardboard boxes, plastic, wood, whatever I need. I am impressed how does it go through cardboard boxes, like it never enough and still sharp. Sharpening on sharpmaker is not a problem and I do thid about half frequently to compare with my VG10 or S30v blades. It makes interesting sound like I am not sharpening, but scraping rods. Reprofiling with WE was fairly painless. Without of doubts, I am enjoying this knife. I would love to see Native5 with M390 and /or 204P. Scales can stay dark green :) :)

Mine has stood up well, we have watched a few movies together and it still hair popping sharp. Next I am going to try a James Bond marathon with it ... will see how well it stands up to that.

Mines been doing well. Use it outdoors some, and it's seen some whittling. Holds up well, although my favorite part is how sharp I can get it. After re-profiling it to 30 inclusive, it takes a few swipes on the fine and UF rods and it goes back to hair whittling. It shaves armhair with almost no pressure, I don't even have to lock the knife to shave my hair off :D

So far so good. No significant wear but no significant challenges for the knife. It has opened boxes cutting tape and/or cardboard with no noticeable change. The primary grind gets sticky with tape residue like all knives, so cleaning has been the only required maintenance so far. I did power buff the edge bevel one time so far. Not a true sharpening but I do look forward to that time....if it ever gets here. :)

I reprofiled mine on the EP a month ago, and I was expecting a fight... I came all physically and mentally prepared for battle, and then there was no fight.

I was really surprised at how quick and painless that was, 15 min max, felt more like S30V. I was also pleasantly surprised at the very fine edge it took.

Took me more than 15 minutes but yes, I was surprised at how "easy" it was. Might have been the bevel angle at which it came.

I carry mine at least a couple times each week but still haven't used it in prolonged cutting sessions.

Cut plenty of nylabraid and 1/4 air line no problem, edge doesn't appear to have been used at all. Also cut plastic hose clamps and cardboard with no issue. Handle and blade both got some loctite 580 on them but cleaned up easily. Pairs well with G10 Jester and Zwear SnG.

Turns out I don't love the Native 5 like I expected to so I haven't used mine one bit. I'm really torn on what to do because of it. I'm really not a fan of collecting and I would rather use it than leave it in a box, but being a forum knife makes it kinda sentimental to me so I don't necessarily want to let it go.

I found the Native was just a bit too small for my hand. I figured I'd wait for S110V in a larger model and sold mine to Donutsrule. Worked out ok, because I gave the S90V Manix2 XL a shot just for the handle size and it's been a keeper.

I carry mine quite a bit, but it hasn't seen any hard use or moderate use for that matter.

I felt it lost its bite and had to do some strokes on the stones, but it came back to a nice edge.

Wow, you've big hands. I passed my 2009 Forum Native to another forumite for the same reason but this one is perfect for my XL - XXL hand.

I say keep it David! they will be become very hard to find in the future and being a forum knife, I think it might be worth keeping one safe queen :)

That's the plan. There are a couple grails I would let it go for, but I'm fine with keeping this one just as a looker. At some point I have no doubt that will change, because I will surely break down and start using it.

I'm on the same boat as you, Evil D. I had fondled some Natives in the past so I figured this was a no-brainer. But once I got it, it just seemed like a normal knife to me. It's been sitting in the box ever since. I even take it out a couple of times a week to try to get myself to like it and carry it but just doesn't work. Now, I don't know if to sell it off or keep it since it is my first ever Forum knife and hope it grows on me. I guess I'm just used to the larger blades at the moment, consider I EDC a Manix2 XL.
