Hey Mick, I agree the JD Smith would make a great B&T. Like the Chokwe, a razor knife. I could definitely go for a B&T in S110V :D

I cleaned about 10 ducks and a few grouse with a pm2 this past year, actually worked quite well.

..back-locks aren't ideal for cleaning game. Put a compression lock on it and it would be perfect IMHO. I like to be able to easily rinse out the blood and bits of tissue/offal. Chokwe would be better.

I bought one of these knives from A.G. Russell many years ago and absolutely love it for certain applications. The Blackie Collins-designed Thumb Bolt sheath is really handy. I'm more of a Trout kind-of guy than a hunter - but here's what I need out of this kind of knife:

- Medium length, something between 2" and 3" blade is best for me.

- Very narrow blade (from spine to edge)

- Thin, rigid steel, not highly flexible like a lot of fishing/boning knives

- Fixed blade with a handle you don't mind getting gunk on - you'll need to clean this one regularly

- I prefer a synthetic sheath that can be easily cleaned. Leather can get really nasty if you put a dirty knife back in the holster.

- FFG Plain edge. I like an acute point, but with just a hint of belly in the blade for fine caping.

Hmmm. I'll probably think of some other nice-to-haves soon...

The Sprig is my single most anticipated Spyderco. On another thread I think Sal said it would be sometime in the new year. Hopefully sooner than later. S90v Thanks Phil and Sal for bringing this to us.

From what I seen lately CPM 4V has some definite possibilities and a lot of potential, very interesting steel and it can be taken up into the higher RC ranges (64-65).

One to look out for I think, only time will tell though.

He makes a nice B&T. I got an orange one!

Back to Phil's.... He makes B&T's from three and all the way to four inches I believe. Anyone know what the Sprig will be?

Also, if it isn't too late CPM154 would be a great choice for this...
