I'll see your Spyderco and raise you another!
Unless we're burdened by too many of these occurrences, I don't think we need to get too caught up by the SKU.Peter1960 wrote:I can't tell you off-hand and who knows what the future brings :D At the moment we know from two in this thread (C55GP andC63GP). I suggest we make it easy: a separately shown column in the list, called "SKU-anomalies" ...
The list would read as following:
C63GP Chinook
C63GP Chinook 2Forgive me if I'm not seeing the future complications that might arise from this simplification. The official tally would count these as two distinct models, and the game continues. With the way this worked, the Chinook could have been matched with a Chinook 2, and everyone would guffaw at these little tangles.
Yep! :) Sounds ok.GSO wrote:Unless we're burdened by too many of these occurrences, I don't think we need to get too caught up by the SKU.

While the SKU may be the same, the description will define the difference in the models.
Future complications? I am a faultman; I’ve been doing it for so long, that it is no longer what I do, but what I am. Others see a clear future; I follow Murphy and look for the things that can go wrong.

It doesn’t mean that when someone puts up the first t-shirt that every size can be a new challenge after that.
But will it relate to all different generations of Delica and Endura with the sample SKU?
Will special editions with a basic SKU be considered a different model now?
And there will be a heap more problems that it will most likely being up.
But :) that has always been part of the game and part of the fun.
:D And I know how much Peter1960 & IG-88 love controversies.
“O” and is the Chinook 2 considered done or yet to come.
How much can a Koala bear?
I was given the impression that SKU anomalies (like the Chinooks) are oversights by the folks at Spyderco and would have been done differently if they caught them there and then. That would be to say the Chinook 2 is distinctly a new model and not some sort of Chinook special edition. And yeah, let's consider the Chinook 2 done as it already showed up.Reject wrote:Yep! :) Sounds ok.

All that being said, if the SKU matches, it's fair to play. And whether it's a distinct model (for record-keeping purposes), I defer to the more knowledgeable players in this thread.
I was unaware, and I'm learning more about Spyderco from this thread all the time. If that old numbering scheme was superseded by the current scheme, let's use the current where possible. :)bengaiser wrote:Also, don't forget about the old numbering scheme :spyder: used to use as 100x that overlap certain Cxx models.
A clever move in terms of keep it simpleGSO wrote:If that old numbering scheme was superseded by the current scheme, let's use the current where possible. :)

It must be something Freudian,

:) But while we are on the subject of Dr Freud; I would like to see Spyderco come out a knife in his honour.
Call it a Freudian Slip Joint.
The blade would open quickly, but it would not always come out in the way it was intended.

Me and Dr. Sigmund Freud were Austrians and I am quite sure you never want to use a typical Austrian knife (Warning!) - Trattenbacher Feitel ... it has no SKO :D
