Anyone experience "clip wiggle"?

I noticed last night the clip on my Yo 2 can slide side to side a good 1/8 inch both directions. I'm sure this has to do with the size of the holes compared to the size of the screws, but I never noticed this before on any other model. It kinda sucks because the clip has worn a big wide spot on the G10 where the clip presses against the scale. I have the screws cranked down and locktited, but it's still able to move if you press on it. I'm not sure there's anything that can be done about it either.

If I give it a good pull in either direction, my PM2 and Cento 3 do that as well.

I have run into this but on a hit or miss basis. You are right about the hole size in comparison to the screw size.

A number of my FRN models have this, but none of my G10 ones that I have noticed.

Would a spacer (thin) between the clip (rebend clip so it is tight) and scale work? I haven't done anything about mine as it hasn't bothered me much.

Now that I've checked my PM2 again, I'd like to hear some others experiences as well. My PM2 probably has more like 3/16" of travel or so.

My southard did this. I thought the solution was to torque the screws a bit more.......WRONG. Now I have 2 screws sheared off in the Ti frame. It's going back to Golden hopefully they can save it.

Most of mine do, except for my wire clips, but the wore clips bend and have the same end result haha. Doesn't bother me though, adds character

I checked a bunch of mine and they're all pretty tight..like I said this is the first I've ever noticed of it. My Para 2 and Manix 2's are rock solid in both directions.

Maybe change it out to larger screws. I like that one guy's mods where he makes all of the screws the same Torx size.

It likely would, but I don't have anything that small to tap threads with, and my gorilla fingers usually don't fare well with things that delicate.

Maybe. I doubt it would eliminate it, but might help.

I'm actually thinking about welding the holes shut and drilling them in a different orientation anyway. Right now the clip points towards the pivot, which puts it very close to the bottom edge of the handle. I would prefer it clipped more center on the handle. Redoing the holes would kill two birds with one stone.

Maybe the holes in your clip are just *slightly* too big. Maybe another clip would fix? I'm thinking of doing this for my PM2 and seeing if it helps. I wouldn't mind switching to a black clip anyways.

This is likely the route I'll take for now. I've been wanting to get a Vallotton style clip for this knife anyway. Hopefully the one I order will be ok though.

Yeah I mean if the screws themselves aren't working themselves loose, and are tight, than it's not the screws or the female threads in the knife itself...has too be the clip I believe.

Yeah, the clip screws are super tight, I wouldn't push them any further for fear of stripping them, and I can still push the clip side to side. It clips super tight. It wouldn't bother me at all if it wasn't for the fact that the clip rides so close to the edge of the handle, when it gets pushed to that side it's practically hanging off the handle.

I dont suppose its a tapping issue, if youre getting resistance when tightening i would assume not. I want to believe the triangulation of screws would combat this, maybe we need some cqi to make all clips equilateral like the millies :)

I have a question, if you hold the clip's upper portion, before the recurve, nearer to the screws, does it wiggle? None of mine do because they aren't actually loose, but the lower portion of the clip (the tip) feels like it might have .5 mm of wiggle. I think it's due to micro unevenness between the part of the clip that presses your pants against the handle scales. The rounded, more giving, spring tension area of the clip 'wiggles' against the grain of the g10. Just my theory, I dont have 1/8" movement on any clip, so it could be a different issue.

I'll try to get some pics of this tomorrow, maybe even a quick video. The clip isn't loose per say, but if you press the side at the tip (as in not the screw end) it will slide a good 1/8 inch either way from center.

Have you tried to call Spyderco ?Write them a letter explaining the issue and send it in?I had an issue in the past(my fault) with a clip and gave them a jingle.For a few bucks a replacement clip,screws and locktite were sent to my door.Problem solved..The call took less than 5 minutes.They gave me a choice between a black clip or stainless.I just checked my PM2,Mili, and N5 and I don't have the same issue on my users.
