Mine would be as well. At the very least, the blade markings are wrong, as is the leather sheath.

Only a seller since August 2013, and they ID indicates they more into Guitars and Bikes.

The descriptions does mentions the following:

"Note: There are counterfeit Spyderco knives on the market as there are other brands - unfortunately we do not know how to determine the difference.

If a user provides us with the way to determine if it's fake or not wins the auction we will give up to 30% refund in the event it is proven before the knife ships out. Once it ships - the refund/return status is null and void."

While it doesn't appear to be legit - they are giving buyers at least a warning and upfront about they are not sure themselves.

or they just try to look like they are
and they are few violations of ebay/paypal policy in the listing...like giving a 30% refund...or no refund at all

Sal, my current job is as an independent contractor for a large company (NDA prevents me from naming them) and what I do is search eBay and Amazon for counterfeit, fake, and falsely advertised products that imitate products sold by the company. If you want, I could do a weekly or monthly search through eBay and flag the fakes and compile them into a list.

Hi Invective,

Much of our input comes from forumites, for which we are thankful. They discovered many that our own in-house people might not have seen. If you are offering this as a vendor, you would have to contact us outside of the forum (peterj@spyderco.com). Peter heads up that arena. We also have attorneys in Denver and Beijing that are constantly hunting factories in China that are counterfeiting our knives.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it but those FRN scales are horribly inaccurate too.

I've been reporting fakes to ebay for years; and have yet to see them move against any of them. I keep doing it, though. Reported one just last night. Nothing happened.

And that seller's 'disclosure' is pure BS.

I've contacted the seller this was the response

Thank for letting us know!
We are trying to edit the listing but for some reason our browser isn't working and we've tried multiple PCs.
I will attempt to edit it now via mobile.
Thanks again, we are adding this to the listing and would like to announce we will take $20 off the final sell price.

He won't pull it, but will take $20.00 Funny & sad at the same I've reported it to Ebay too.

At least your question and his answer are now listed in the Q&A section of the auction page, but you have to scroll to the bottom to see it.

I call BS on this. They claim to not know if it's a fake, yet sell it at $200 under street price.

Can a copyright claim (or some other cliam with more legal weight) be used to take these things down?

Cease and desists can work on American sellers, but if they are coming from China there's not much to be done. The Chinese government doesn't care since it helps boost China's economy and it's a low priority in the US.

This part frustrates me so badly.

How about I build you a kit car with a prancing pony logo and try to sell it as the real thing, then when I get caught I offer to give you a full tank of gas and some genuine Ferrari floormats to make you feel better about getting screwed by such a raw and ridiculous deal. Oh and also my computer will not allow me change the price of said kit car so it is what it is. UN-FREAKING-BELIEVEABLE.
