New lightweight Manix 2, rattle sound

#1

Post by free2game »

Hi everybody, just got a Manix 2 Lightweight black in the other day and I've been liking using it a lot but I noticed it seems to have a part that's rattling I think behind the pivot area. Looking at the visible part of the spring it looks like it's fine, if I put a q tip on the spring the rattle is still there so I don't think it's that. The lock also feels pretty sticky and it's a bit hard to disengage. Functionally the knife seems fine but I'm just worried I might have something broken in the locking mechanism. The couple days I've used it has been what I'd guess you call a lot of light use (lots of cardboard boxes and plastic zip ties).

If you hold your Manix 2 Lightweight up to a a strong light, you will notice that there are several hollow chambers inside the handle. I suspect that the rattle you are hearing may be caused by a tiny piece of plastic is loose inside one of them. If that's the case, then it's harmless.

I actually figured it out. It ends up it had something to do with one side of the pivot being too loose. Odd behavior but hen again I've never had a knife with a pivot like the manix lightweight has.
