FYI, it has been established on this forum by the powers that be that DLC coating can actually promote rust, not prevent it. Do a search and you should find the related threads.

That said, unless you live in a tropical climate and/or swim with your clothes on and/or sweat heavily, I can't see having rust issues with S30V in just casual carry environments. Using it and tossing it in your pocket still wet or with food on it is another story.

Some places accept Paypal, and if you have a bank account you are good to go.

My stop pin on my green PM2 has some rust on it. I haven't dealt with it at all, but noticed it recently. The blade itself (CTS-204P) shows no sign of rust. No S30V I have has ever had rust. My Sage 3 did get some rust on the bolt and some internals and I was able to clean it up. The only knives I have ever had issues with are small spots on my Gayle Bradley, Kershaw's bead blast finish you mentioned, and some 8Cr13MoV. I would say I am pretty bad about caring for them though. I am working on being better :D

I've had the stop pin rust issue on several knives. That may be something that needs addressed in the future. I plan to just Tuff-Glide mine and see how that helps.

The reason I went for the black blade is because I had a Kershaw with the bead blast finish and one with the black blade, and the bead blast had surface rust the first day I carried it. But the black blade has shown no rust in about 6 months. How does the dlc coating compare to the coating Kershaw uses?

That was based on a misinterpreted quote and no actual data. The truth is it can reduce rust, with the amount of resistance based on method of application.

Any kind of testing to back that up?

I've posted one before :) (half way down) http://www.spyderco.com/forums/showthre ... post887259

Got any testing to show it can promote rust or even does nothing (beyond anecdotal or that quote from TazKristi that's been often read into)? :)
