Thankfully the knife wasn't useful. A 72 year old fights and beats up 26 year old that tried to commit a home invasion with a knife. Click on the link just for the picture, it's worth it...lol

Nice to see that this resolved the way it should have, with accolades for the victim and a lengthy prison term and admonishment from the judge for the accused.

Thanks for a good laugh, Tony! Frank Corti worked that young punk over pretty good. His face looks like raw hamburger!

Great he got a few smacks although no where near enough for me I'd have give him 12 3 minutes rounds.
"He kept getting back up officer " the joke is really its a mandatory 5 year sentence or supposed to be for carrying with intent .
How is aggravated burglary attempted murder only get 4 years which btw will only be 2 years long enough.
Hopefully he would of been made the prison gimp too :D .
Can't stand burglars scum the lot of em .

Tony, really enjoyed this one. I'm sure he'll be well received in prison, most likely be a laughing stock for being stupid & inept.

Hmm, I suppose in this case the UK's strict knife laws actually worked in favour of the victim!

I've been to Botley, my recollection is that it's a nice neighbourhood that is adjacent to the not to nice neighbourhood of Cowley. But that was over 10 years ago.

Anyone here from Oxford who can tell me what it's like these days?

Bruno

Great story Tony! Kinda puts perspective on the "self-defense EDC" when a 72 year old can incapacitate an armed punk with fisticuffs ;) .

I disagree the sentence was to small but Botley is still nice everywhere has problems and knob ends like this kid.
What this didn't explain was the guy was a neighbour and had had a long neighbour feud going on .
I think the ol fella won :D , I moved in 2006 from Canterbury to north Wales , in Canterbury I would never lock my car for example .
One occasion I left a $ 1000 of bikes in the front garden unlocked and went away for three days they were still there on my return .
Here I've had my rubbish bins stolen 4x full of rubbish I kid you not , had four burglars I have actually apprehended and more that I possibly don't know about.
They're are lovely place in the uk but like everywhere there are issues .
Like some s,e Asian countries I lived in extreme wealth next to slums in London south Kensington for example a family member used to rent a house .
Seriously costly ten minutes walk was really dangerous estates if you wernt from that area .
That guy deserved what he got and IMO should be made to move on his release so the old boy can live without knowing the ****e bag isn't coming back.
Excuse my French people this thing gets my blood boiling .

I really wish this would happen more often, without repercussions for the defender.

As they say, youth and enthusiasm lose out to old age and treachery. Or in this case, bad@$$ery.
