One last wish

Post by JD Spydo »

One last model on my resurrection wish list would be for them to come out with a Hawkbill Dyad model in the H-1 Salt Series. I think that would be the ultimate Mariner's and all purpose blade.

Also a Lil Temp with one of the newer super steels would be the "Cat's Meow"

I just mean something like the light weight Manix translucent blue FRCP but colored like amber, the fossilized resin used in jewelry making, etc:

Edit: sorry I couldn't make the link work. It was just a google image search for "amber image."

I think it would need to be less transparent than most amber and with irregular patterns. It would really be cool if it would be possible to make each set randomly different, but not required. I wouldn't want insect or any other kind of inclusions.

If an irregular pattern is not possible, I think something like the blue, with the same density, but amber, would be good. I would probably like translucent brown too.

Doug, I am so sorry. I thought this comment was on the "What Spyderco is in your Pocket Today?" thread and I was pissed I had missed that one. This is the result of having Safari with too many tabs open. Obviously I agree and would enjoy the FRCP in other colors. My apologies!

LOL, no apologies necessary. I've been there done that. I've got so many tabs open right now there's no label showing and I have to check 2 or 3 to find the one I want.

I guess you were reading my mind -- I had just been to the "What Spyderco is in your pocket today?" thread to post about my new Made-in-Japan trio (I carried all three all day, hahaha), but I chickened out thinking, they'll be pissed if I don't show pictures (I didn't have time then, but I swear I'll get to it.)

I sort of lost my mind 10 days ago and ordered three knives in 24 hours. My "logic" was: the ZDP Stretch or Endura had been at the top of my list for a long time and I couldn't decide which to get. Then the super blue Endura was about to be available and I thought, if I buy it, I'll have to wait a long time before I get the Stretch, but, if I go ahead and buy the Stretch now, then I'll "have to" buy the Endura before they're all sold out. I managed to pull that off -- some became available right after I ordered the Stretch :) ... but by that time I had a case of buy-itis, so when you gave me the tip about the SB Caly 3, $20 or $30 cheaper than usual, I had to have it too, before they were all gone. I'm afraid there'll be a looong dry spell now, but I can't complain after this haul.

Just came across these pics from gooeytek in the Show your mods! thread:

Please Spyderco, do some CPM 3V and Böhler M390 sprint runs Militaries with a black DLC coated blade, carbon fiber and stand-offs! And/or with a Ti RIL frame-lock as well!

I would rather see stand-offs in every Millie anyway.

I'd love to see a Manix Jr. A FFG Manix 2, but reduced in size to about the size of the Delica.

I'm not sure how small a package Spyderco can cram the CBBL into, though. But if they could do a Delica sized Manix, I bet it would sell like crazy. Look at BM's Mini Grip--it's really the only BM i have a use for, because Spyderco doesn't really have a competing product.

I think it should technically be possible, the P'kal is relatively compact to use a CBBL and it was accomplished; it's a 3in. blade too.

Have you looked at the Sage III. It uses a similar lock, has a 3" FFG blade that's about the same shape as the Manix 2's , and, if you don't like smurf blue G-10 it can always be dyed.

Native xl, g10 endura/delica, and the atr! I would also like to see more agressive grinds like on the lightweight natives.

I'm looking at it now. Thanks for the heads up. I think Sal might owe you a commission in a few minutes...

And I actually like the Smurf blue color.
