I really like the lock simplicity as well as the pivot wings for lubrication retention.

That is quite interesting especially the lock. I'm also a huge fan of solid, linerless G10 knives. I'm not sure I could live without a clip though.

The lock was also the most interesting part that grabbed my attention first. I also agree for a 4" overall closed length, it needs a clip. I like the blade shape thought and it appears to have good F&F.

At $400 it is a pass for me, if they can cut the price down to under $100 I will have one on the way. There is something about simplicity of a design that pulls on my purse strings.

It's really cool :) . Wish I had some thumb nick, stud, or something eluding an opener (even if an indent). Still really cool gents knife!

Kershaw used this kind of Sanvik quite a bit (iirc). The Kershaw Skyline for example. It's a vg10 competitor but with less carbon. Maybe more AUS8.

Some interesting features and available in any color, as long as it is black or white.

I have found it to be better that AUS-8 with regards to fine edge holding and it doesn't burr as easily. I did however experience some slight (patina-like) discoloration after using it to cut steak, chicken, pork, etc for a few weeks. Personally I think I like it better than 8Cr13MoV, but that is after only a comparison of 2 knives. I would need more experience to make a concrete ruling

Looks like a razor blade steel, but with a tad more wear resistance, and corrosion resistance.
A highly optimized blade steel in a jack of all trades sort of way.
This stuff probably gets freaky sharp.
Neat and attractive design.
$400 is just crazy though.
You could buy 16 mora's or 16 opinals or 4 s30v buck vantage's or 7 endura's for that kind of money!
Yikes!
$100 tops I am thinking.

Especially for the simplicity of the design. Although the machining of that slot in the blade and the lock bar probably don't come cheap.

Ok $120 :)
Joking aside it may very well be more expensive to manufacture than I give it credit for,due to some unknown factor.Perhaps it's more hand made than some other knives, and feature's semi custom fit and finish.

I wonder if the extra cost of the knife could be to recover some of the design / manufacture costs. With this being the first knife in a startup company, they obviously need to try to make as much as possible. I am not criticizing their business model, just speculating.

I'm thinking you're right on that, but I also question how much of that price comes from the hype of makers churning out custom knives now. Seems like the market is exploding, but I've also become more aware of my surroundings.

I imagine the hardest part of that knife to design/produce was the lockbar, getting travel and tension correct by adjusting the length and thickness.

I had the same reaction. In the video, the knife is never shown being opened... I guess you just pinch the spine and pull it out...?

I had looked into this knife when I first heard about it on Gear Geeks Live. I contacted the Massimo Fantoni via email, and unfortunately there's no US-based distributors right now, so you end up paying a lot if you buy it through a site based in the Eurozone. I've removed the clips from pretty much all my knives for deep pocket carry except for my pure work/camping knives, so that doesn't bother me. The two hand opening isn't ideal, but I'm fine with it overall. I think my main knock is the handle material. I have no issue shelling out that kind of money on a nice knife, but at that price point, I'd personally want something more upscale than G10.

With something unique like this, sell it cheap and sell more of it. If the design is a hot seller, you'll make your money. Might take longer, might not. It just depends on if people think it's worth the price or not. People are willing to pay money for uniqueness though.
