I'm with you that the price is higher than it really needs to be to make a decent profit.

Where I take issue is suggesting that we are suffering. Seems a bit silly to me to think anyone is actually suffering over this. I understand that the knife I want at the price I want would be nice, but my life has taught me I don't always get my way.

I also think it's a bit arrogant to suggest that this dealer doesn't deserve the right to sell this exclusive. This is Spyderco's forum and they made the decision to make the product and sell through this dealer. It's their business, in my mind. I don't have to like it, but I think it's bad form to tell them how they should conduct their business in an open forum.
I know that some disagree with that sentiment and are comfortable complaining openly. I don't think it will change, just the way I feel. FWIW.

Yeah, I mean I would love to have an S90V Military (and in all reality I may even look to trade my 2nd forum knife for one, who knows) but price for price you'd have to be crazy or just plain old hate the Native 5 to buy the Military over the forum knife. I really just wish this Military was a Spyderco sprint run and not a dealer exclusive.

I look at it this way: when compared to the $560 Chaparral 3, the price of this Millie does not look so bad.

Oh come on, do you really have to take what I say is word for word? I used the word suffering, no we are not suffering like the hungry children of the world. I mean it in a much less sense of the word, a figure of speech. Suffering as in a negative experience as supposed to a positive.

Call me arrogant, brash cocky whatever you want, it's cool all I'm saying is, that in my opinion this knife is overpriced because of BBS and THINK that it is worth making a fuss about for reasons I have reiterated over and over and over and over. Yup I do complain openly and will continue to do so about this.

Dude, I happen to agree with you regarding their pricing and the potential negative implications it could have long, term, but your attitude leaves a lot to be desired. You are jumping down the throat of anyone who disagrees with you in any way, and being a supreme drama queen.

You made your point - repeating it 50 more times and acting like anybody who thinks otherwise is the enemy is not going to get you anywhere.

Please, lighten up.

Honestly, I'd love to have an S90V Millie (having missed the earlier CF version); however, I'll probably pass on this one just because the price seems a little high for what it is. It's BBS's prerogative to sell a product at the price the want, but as consumers it's our prerogative whether or not to pay that price. IIRC, the initial M390 PM2 exclusive was around for months; I think the only reason the second run sold relatively quickly was due to the regular-production PM2 shortage and the subsequent rise in those prices (making the M390 seem like a good deal in comparison). I expect this exclusive (S90V Millie) to be around for months, too. There's no shortage of regular Millies and I'm sure for the price most Spydie fans will opt for the Cruwear version. Again, I'd love to have this one for the steel, but having acquired a CTS-204P PM2 and Fluted Ti Native 5 already this year (in addition to the upcoming S100V Forum Native 5 and K390 Mule), and I've already been VERY blessed to be a Spydie fan in 2013!!!

selling this sprint at MSRP or close to it, is clearly a case of seeing a demand for something and being greedy. to each their own....
I don't know whether I'd say it exactly that way, but BBS has clearly chosen, and this is nothing new, to favor higher margins and slower sales over lower prices and margins and faster sales. Given what happens with knives like the 204P PM2, maybe that's not so crazy. :o

The guy calls an idea offered as arrogant and took literal meaning to the term suffering which I wished to clear up and I will respond the way I chose. I am not jumping down anyone's throat, rather people take issue with my positions and I am responding accordingly. I am repeating myself because they are also, one at a time with the same thing as well. You haven't responded to me head on until now, if you are getting rubbed the wrong way put me on your ignore list. Do it. Problem solved.

Or you could, you know, take some friendly advice from someone who agrees with you completely but thinks you're taking the wrong approach.

Nah, easier to just pick a fight with me and tell me "tough crap" if I don't care for the way you're acting. This excessively abrasive behavior isn't exactly helping to further the point that I happen to support.

Yeah I'm "picking a fight with you"... I don't care for you enough to do that, in fact I have no problem with you and haven't noticed your presence much here on the forums until you quoted me. Telling me to relax, ok point taken... But it take two to tango, just because I have held my ground and has been the most outspoken for OUR position makes me the guy to quote, and I respond accordingly. Yes, I am irked a little and my posts show that.

But if you really think I'm fighting you because by all means:

Meh, I acknowledge that in a way your right because in the end, I'm the one defending my positions that are being questioned by multiple members. I asked for it by staying on top of this topic. Been meaning to stop, but I keep getting quoted, and I keep answering

You already PMed me a few days ago, laughing about how you were stirring the pot when I posted something that agreed with you.

You probably forgot, because you've been lashing out at anybody who says anything that isn't 100% in agreement with you for nine pages of over-dramatical BS. You aren't just "irked", you are acting like a spoiled teenage brat throwing a temper tantrum because she didn't make prom queen.

If you won't take my advice, take your own:

Yeah I will stop. Like I said I have been meaning to. I PM'd you? I do not recall, but that also shows that I haven't taken member's names into account to hold grudges or whatever as I am not here for ill will. About the teenage brat and other name calling, if you pay attention closely it was responses like this that provoked me to go on. I'm as guilty as anyone but again it takes two to tango.

I knew what I was getting into. I even called it that I was gonna catch heat and may end up with an unpleasant label in the end. I must really think my actions on this thread is worth it.

I would like it if Spyderco could keep their EXCLUSIVES page up to date with all the new releases.

This is the BBS business model it has worked for them in the past on the M4 Manix 2 and the M390 P2. Additionally it defeats the flippers they cannot buy up 4 sell 2 at double and end up with 2 free.

Guaranteed the $155 CruWare Military will be just like the last few sprints, up on the secondary market for $300--$350 NIB within hours of being delivered.

I love sprint / Dealer exclusive Military’s:
BG-42 CF
D2 Foliage Green
S90V CF
M4 Ti
XHP Earth Brown
M390 CF

and Manix 2’s

S90V CF
S30V Blue (don’t carry this that often Blue just doesn’t do it for me)
M4 Tan

They are my carry knifes and I do not have any NIB backups sitting in a safe. I was not in to spydercos until the D2 Foliage Green Military and did not understand sprints at the time I bought it. Therefore, I missed the BG-42 CF I finally found a NIB example at a local gun show for $225 a couple of years ago. I guess I was busy with work and life and missed the preorder window on the M390CF; I was forced to pay secondary market ($350) for one NIB last month because I missed the preorder window or continue to do without one .

The full MSRP business model sold over time defeats the feeding and flipping frenzy, allows you to buy a great knife at your own pace. I will not be in on this because:

1. I have a S90V Military
2. a Blue knife is ok but doesn’t do it for me

This is a dealer exclusive, they funded the build they are free to price it at MSRP if they want to. It will have no long-term effect on the feeding and flipping frenzy associated with Sprint runs sourced to high volume low profit dealers. Guaranteed the CruWare Military will be just like the last few sprints.

Out.
