yes, i really meant tail not tale :) this dog wouldn't let her owner drag her away until i gave her a couple of pats on the head and took her picture.

bright yellow fungus i think. almost all of the weirdest things i've seen in the woods are fungus.

a tiny sassafras very close to my base camp - never noticed it there before.

a downed oak branch gave me an opportunity to test out my new fiddleback forge 12" machete.

i didn't get much of anything else done since i spent most of the time gathering firewood for future trips.

true scandi - only sharpened with dmt coarse and fine for awhile now (no stropping or micro-bevel). it looks a lot more beat up in person!

Great pics and knives. Been back and forth about ordering a Machete from Andy, but he is already making a matching Camp knife and Ladyfinger set for me so the knife funds are a bit on the low side at the moment :o

Beautiful pictures. The one of the daddy long leg reminds of back when everyone believed that they were the most venomous spiders in the world and that their fangs were just too soft to bite us, Ha.

thanks! haha, i drank more than a gallon of water while processing all those firewood that i really needed to take in some salt too - spam to the rescue!

thanks! the 12" is the hardest to find so if you find out i suggest you jump on it. it seems like the 14"-18" are always in-stock though...or just order all 4 and you'll save $100 plus shipping :D

Still kicking myself for not getting one of the Spyderco Scandi blanks. I wish they'd offer those again so I could send one to Tom Krein to put some handle scales on.

thanks! sal mentioned awhile back that he wants to make a ffg with s90v with the same handles - just a matter of finding space in the production schedule for it...now that i'm saving my pennies for.
