I stated my opinion on a knife. You didn't state your opinion on the knife, you stated your opinion on me, then you accused me of things I neither said nor did. For all your talk about drama, you seem to be far more interested in it than me.

I'm not butthurt or crying about being a victim, I just think you are acting like a tool.

For real now, I am done with this conversation with you.
It's the same as talking to a 13 year old child.

You're a hoot! :)

Thanks for the fun but we probably should knock it off for Kristi's sake ( and by that I mean my sake :) )

Well, here's a thought that I don't think has to be treated as opinion: the membership of enthusiast/hobby fora like this are not at all representative of the general market for any knife company's products. :)

The Mastiff wrote:I have no problems with you saying this but do you really believe you represent the market in general? That would be strange thinking in my opinion. I don't make any such claims after being a knife knut for 40 years, reading all the forums and magazines, and selling knives for 15 years. It's a pretty arrogant position to take. :) Maybe it's just not for you. I kind of doubt Spyderco would have made them without seeing a viable market for them.

Joe
I'd imagine he does, ask Sal how many of these are being produced. If it's a small number, then most certainly, Spyderco believes that he does represent their market majority. The majority of Spyderco customers will not pay double the price for a knife just to have a machined pattern on the handles. That doesn't mean there isn't a market, just a small one. The standard Delica or Endura is for the majority of Spyderco's market. If Sal gave the numbers produced for each model, instead of us guessing what Spyderco's general market is, you'd see it with the numbers for each model sold.

Leave it to Jack to be the cool voice of reason. And I think I agree with myself on this point.

I did some digging. Jesse Jarosz and Jeremy Robertson both come to mind under 500, and both of their books are closed (Jarosz has a 2-3 year wait). and while I will say knives like the southard and the GB are nice..... theres not much better in this industry than a custom made blade :)
im completely agreeing with you on the fit and finish from Taiwan... so no argument there :)

What could have been a productive discussion has certainly spiraled into something completely different. Thread closed.
There is nothing more important than this one day.
