Szabo and Chinese Folder Sprint Run - THE DREAM ☜(*▽*☜)

Post by rakashaka »

I always liked the Chinese folders but never the scales (color aluminum, CF etc). the shape of the folder is so elegant and beautiful and in my opinion the scales never rose up to the folder itslef.
My suggestion (and dream) :
Spyderco Chinese Folder white Mother of pearl or Imperial Jade

I have a real problem with the CF. i just think it resembles too much cheap plastic holograms photos. like the one you see Jesus open and close his eyes as you move from side to side. Sorry.

The Native 5 was recently launched with incredible fluted titanium scales, but the blade shape itself, in my humble opinion , is very not interesting to say the least. On the other hand the Szabo's blade is absolutely magnificent. yet it is stuck with that "plastic hologram" CF.

May I introduce you to the wet dream - the potentially most beautiful Spyderco ever made :

So can/will it happen ??

A fluted TI Szabo would definitely cost some yen.
or how about a fluted carbon fiber Szabo Folder.
I love that Szabo blade.

A Lum Chinese Folder in pale green G11 could be quite nice.

I love that Szabo blade, but not with Ti Fluted scales. Just plain dark green or orange smooth G10 would the trick for me.
I like green on Lum, but doubt that I will be able to afford Imperial Jade. Again, polished G10 will be fine.
Do you aware that Lum was made with ti scales as well?

Did you notice the black on black Szabo with the Argyle type pattern to it?

Let me see if I can find a pic.

I still really like the Lightning Strike Carbon Fiber on the original Szabo. Beautiful, *and* provides a secure comfortable grip :) . I may still acquire the black Szabo too though.

They can probably be done through customization. I am sure the Chinese folder is easily doable, about the Szabo i don't know.
I sent an offer request for the depicted Jade Chinese folder and the Titanium Szabo at customspyderco.com.

let's wait and see what is their answer. I'm also very curious how much it would cost

This mod will probably make you wet your pants. It's probably the most beautiful set of scales I've ever seen.

I'm really hoping they do something else with that kind of Nishijin Glass Fiber. The Black on Black Szabo and the Domino are not really my style.

It's very hard to argue with mammoth tooth or nice colorful outer bark. I want some on my spydies so bad.

Me too rodloos, love the original. I keep looking at the black one and have mixed feelings.
It looks nice to look at as a picture and know that it is different and would be nice to have
both. HOWEVER, one of the main things that I love about the Szabo is that beautiful curved
blade with the "steel" look and awesome lines and reflect the light when you slightly rotate
the knife.

I will sit in my recliner at night and just look at it and open and close the knife (I know that
I am crazy, but I also know that I am the only one that does this.
Then the wife will walk in or glance over at me and I will subtly close the knife and slip it into
my pocket and give that "what" look back at her. ..... You gotta love Spyderco knifes.

Brian,
I have no plans to carry Black on Black Szabo. I cannot legally carry even military. Szabo certainly is not my style of EDC, but Black on Black Szabo looks good for me and may be will find it's place in one of my display cases. I love good-looking knives, even if they do not feel in the hand as good as N5 or large Persian.

If you measure from pivot to tip and then pivot to the end of the handle, I think you need to make the blade much shorter if it is to fit into the handle.

Personally, I really like the black one in the link a lot... that or one with a Persian style handle would look really nice.
