I first saw Spydies at the PX on Ft Myer when I lived in the dorm there, around '94. But they looked pricey for what they were. Wound up getting a BM 830 instead. It had the round hole,a cool black blade, and was like $10 cheaper. That knife was my main carry until around '01. In the mean time,I picked up a glimmer of interest in Spydies after I bumped into them in the mall at Crystal City. The comic book store I frequented moved, and I wound up walking past a hardware store that had a bunch of gadgets in the window. At the back was this cool poster about how "All God's Creatures Have Knives". There was a bunch of shiny SS Spydies in front of it. I had a jonesing for an SE Endura SS,but it was way overpriced. A little later,SMKW had plastic clip Endura SE's on clearance and I got one. I later bought a pair of Q's from SMKW because they were on special and looked cool. In Korea I picked up a CE FRN Delica just cause I had a gadget craving, but it wasn't until I got back to the US that Spydie lust took hold.

In like '01,I saw a friend's Copilot(which he got as a groomsman's gift) and decided to order one from SMKW cause they had them cheap. At the same time I also picked up a Calypso Jr Ltwt, cause it was also on sale and looked cool. That's the knife that did it for me. I liked it so much I bought a 2nd for my collection and got some clear nail polish to protect the gold Bug from rubbing off the clip(the polish has worn off twice, the Bug is still there). I started getting into Spydies, then I found the forums, then came eBay and PayPal,and it all went downhill from there. I've put about as much into my Spydies as I have my Harley's motor!

I've collected Kershaws, Benchmades and others for awhile, but had stayed away from Spydies for no good reason. Anyway, my first Spydie was a PE 1st Generation Native that I still have. I bought it pursuant to a friend's relentless recommendations that she delivered over a period of months. At this point, my Spydie collection now outnumbers everything else in my collection taken together. Nuff said.

Hi all,

First heard about Spyderco several years ago from an article in a martial arts mag. Although I liked the look of them and they sounded good I knew of no suppliers in the UK. Time passed and in Jan this year I was attending a conference, wandered off and found a knife shop with a selection of Spydercos. Ended up buying a CE Native and I've not looked back. Several of my friends are now converts and have at least one Spyderco as an EDC. Collecting isn't the cheapest hobby in the world though.

A guy on another board has been posting all this crazy talk about some Native spyder thing. I never heard of "Spyderco" untill recently and since discovering this board have come to the conclusion that it's some kind of Spyder cult. Oh, and some cool blades. [;-)] One day I wanna be a Spyder too!

In college friend of mine had a plain edge civilian, I thought it was just about the coolest thing ever carbon fiber handle everything. I got my first spiderco and cricket just become infamous in another posting of mine. And never got a civilian though, I kind of want one but they are expensive and not super practical for edc to say the least. Then currently struggling to be satisfied three I have no one that I couldn't possibly lost my second aluminum cricket which would be hard to replace but I would if anybody knows where I could find want except eBay. Wouldn't quite be the same anyway mean that one knife and seen a lot interesting times together.

Saw the Police models in one of the EMS supply catalogs I get some time ago. Finally got to thinking seriously about it around 2 months ago or so and decided to try the Rescue--I'll never use another brand! Still haven't needed it on a call yet but it sure has gotten use around home.
While my wife doesn't share my enthusiasm she does seem rather amused by it--guess I've been like a kid with it. Oh, well-you only live once, after all.

I saw an article in Tactical Knives several years ago on the Native. The reviewer gave it rave reviews, and I fell in love with the blade shape, serrations, etc.

Years later, I finally got one. Then two. Then a SS Delica. Then a Dodo...

I got my first Spyderco about 8/9 years ago.
It was a SS Police SE.
A friend of the Law School (today my partner) showed me that knife and I got crazy about it.
Since we both are shooters, I traded the knife for a box of Silvertips .380s an a box of CCI small pistol primers.

It was the first of 20 spydercos I own today...

I drive past Spyderco every day on my way home from work. It was just a matter of time. Now, in addition to the great Spyderco sharpeners that I've owned (seemingly) forever, every family member has one or more Spyderco knives.

I first got an Endura...but I wasn't used to the sight of the hole in the blade, so I returned it for a Bench Tsunami...Got tired of the weight, and finally saw the advantage of the hole as opposed to the stud. I went back for the Endura but it was gone. I found a Delica at an AAFES store and bought it, along with the first Dragonflys...(Skinny blade and hollow ground SE) Never looked back since...
I bought other knives too but their pocket life is very short. I got bit by the Spyder big time!
