There really is a Spyderco for every occasion

#1

Post by gbelleh »

My 13 year old cat had a scary case of saddle thrombus over the weekend, a type of blood clot that left her screaming with her back legs paralyzed. The emergency vet wanted to euthanize her, but our regular vet has been giving her daily therapy and she seems to be recovering well (hopefully will recover fully within 2 or 3 weeks). But for now, she needs a lot of care.

Yesterday I realized I had the perfect Spyderco to carry while she recovers: the Ocelot! This is one that I haven't used much in the couple years I've owned it, but it's taken on a special meaning, and has become a reminder of how special our furry friends are. There really is a Spyderco for every occasion.

Hope things work out well. Looks like some R&R and a bit of TLC should make things better. We do get attached to the critters we have and share time with, they become family.

We still have my son's cat, my son was in 1st grade when the cat arrived (he's now a drill sergeant in the Army, my son, not the cat). The cat caught a dove this weekend and ate it! I must admit it was a youngster which couldn't fly too well, but hey, at 18 years old I'm just glad the old cat is still with us.

Nice Ocelot! Best to you & the cat.

Hope she recovers quickly! I thought you might have solved the problem with a Spyderco, but glad to see you're carrying in support of her.

Yep, I thought at first that this was going to be a field surgery post featuring the Spyderco folding scalpel.
Hang in there cat!

Yikes! Vascular surgery performed by me would not end well, no matter what knife was used!
Thanks for the comments. The recovery is going well, and the Ocelot is proving to be a nice EDC.

Speed recovery to your cat, I hope it will keep on spicing your lives for a long time. As cat owner myself, I can tell you that cats are sophisticated animals and we, humans, can learn from them.

Fingers crossed for your cat, hope she gets better soon!
I agree with you, the scales of the Ocelot perfectly fits the situation.
