After 12 years of faithful service from a Swatch Irony, I decided to retire it last week.

Taking its place is a G-5600E, exactly like the one Scoop posted. It seems like the Endura of watches, tough and functional and dependable. I like it, it has some old school charm.

For dressier occasions I have a Seiko solar diver, but the G-shock is the workhorse for now.

Not surprising that people who like Spyderco Knives also like G Shocks

I bought my G shock when I was in the Marines cir 1999. This was during school of infantry. My supposedly "shock proof " Timex bit the dust during training one day. I wore my watch on the inside of my wrist and I had to jump across a small river at one point, latching around a tree on the other side with a bear hug. Timex smacked against the tree and I broke the face of it. I bought a plain jane, fat body G shock the next day an "Illuminator" model and beat the heck out of it. I found it a few years ago and despite the sentimental value, don't wear it. Its redundant these days with me always having my GS3 phone on me.

What's the hydro mod? I've got the adapters and Maratac Zulu strap on my DW-9052 work watch. Much more comfortable than the flat stock band.

Rather than start a brand new thread, thought I'd resurrect this one. For years I've been wearing a GW9010 Rally Mudman.



It's now been officially replaced by the GW9400 Rangeman:



What a great watch! ABC function, solar/atomic. The two on the ends are the Love the Sea and the Earth limited editions and the one in the middle is the base positive/black. All three are JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) with the Carbon Fiber straps.

Funny thing about the S&Es is how different that grey can look, depending on the lighting. These two watches are exactly the same color, just more intensely lit on the right.

I have had a Casio watch longer than I can remember.On my second GW 500A-1V atomic solar and had other Casinos prior to that. With the GW 500A you never do anything but wear it. Its Solar powered resets itself several times a day by radio wave from Ft. Collins Co. and automatically resets when daylight savings time goes In and out. You never do anything at all

I have two G-shocks which are Isuzu promotional give aways when you buy a truck.
I wear one to work so it gets pretty beaten up, but seems it will last ok.

Exactly. Today, I would never buy a watch that wasn't solar and, as long as I lived where there was a time signal within reach, I would never buy a watch without that function either (call it Atomic or Multiband or Waveceptor or whatever...) Even the guys down in Australia get signal off the towers in Japan, though it tends to be kinda hit or miss. But then, what is that? Like 5,000 miles? Okay, yeah, it's mostly over water, but still, that's pretty impressive.

Red Trits are very cool! I wish we'd see some of the Analog Gs use them.

Or ANY trits for that matter. The lume on Gs gets pretty dim after 5-6 hours.
