A lot of them feel better in hand without the clip. You should feel a Vallotton without the clip...it's very nice. Too bad I can't live without it.

I like some of my Spyderco's without the clip but it usually goes back on. My front jeans pockets are usually wide enough that the knife turns sideways and annoys me. My side pocket with a lanyard is ok though.

I usually take the clips off my Dragonflys since I always carry these knives deep pocket. No need for a clip. The bigger knives (Delica, Stretch, Endura, etc.) I leave the clips on.

I really thought about DIY'ing a screw-on "side clip" similar to the style the Graham Brothers and a few other custom knifemakers use. They feel great in hand, but I'm not sure how I'd like the way they clip the pocket.

Much better grip without a clip........but
I can't carry a 4" + handle of 4.2 oz + loose in my pocket. :)
The old style slipjoints are ok.

I depends of the clip.

True, some clips are really adding some grip. And I enjoy them on my Paramillie 2, Techno and I also could not imagine my Millies, my Tuff and even my Lionspy without their clip.

But on the Southard, I feel the clip like it is cheap, sharp, edgy, pointy and high profile...
Thanks to Steve Rice, one of his beautiful Low Rider clip should cure that flaw.

But right now I'm enjoying the Southard clipless. It disappears in my watchpocket and is carried tipdown. No problem so far and the sweet titanium' size of its handle is a pleasure to palm.

Cheers

I have to agree. The clip with its sharp edges does not blend in with the knife that has rounded and polished edges. Mine's coming off too.
